Exclamation Time allocation for English Precis exam

Salam seniors,

Can any of you please suggest an effective strategy for the preparation of English Précis and Essay papers.

Background: I scored band 8 in IELTS and am usually comfortable handling complex structures. Also, grammatical mistakes are not an issue and I'm quite familiar with academic writing.

Can anyone please suggest the least amount of time that should be required on a weekly basis (apart from all other subjects) and any resources that may prove helpful in preparation. I am planning to appear in Feb 2016.

Jazak Allah.
