I can't memorize words and their meanings. What else can I do to expand my vocabulary

Its hard to memorize thousands of words and their meaning. Has anyone figured out a better and easy way?
Can I get a list of words with their usage in at least 3 sentences or something like that? OR maybe list of words with images.

AoA,

Make your habit of reading DAWN on daily basis. Read editorial page completely and take bird's eye view of important national and international news. Highlight those words which you don't know and get their meanings checked through dictionary. Once you make your habit, it would be quite easier for you to learn. Plus, you should also download GRE vocab as it's very useful and important as well. The meanings are explained for every word.

Set your goal to memorize 'ten' words per day with proper understanding of their meanings. You can get proficiency over 3650 words (10*365 )in a year if you memorize just ten words per day. :)

Here is the link to download GRE vocab:

Best of luck.

Stay blessed.

Memorizing the meaning and knowing how to use a word in a sentence perfectly, requires more than one repetition depending upon how difficult the word is. You can have a grip over a word in a few repetitions if it is common but if it is uncommon then it's going to take more repetitions to have you ready to use it effectively and correctly. I also suggest you take the phrase "Quality over quantity" into consideration while learning English vocabulary, it means learn new words but not in much quantity because if you go for learning more words than it is probable that you will forget them quickly. Learn not more than ten words per day, and make a habit of revising so that the words retain longer in your memory.

Now what could possibly be a better way to memorize words, is a question which may have many different answers as it varies from person to person, so I'd like to suggest you to pay more attention to new words while reading because you, being an aspirant, have to tweak your reading skills so that you could improve your vocabulary while reading anything. So don't just read but also pay attention to new word that how it has been used in a sentence. Look at word and understand that how it has been used in a particular context. Last but not least, make a list of words which you find difficult while reading and look them up in a dictionary later and if you find making a hand-written list of words difficult then you can save them as bookmarks in your browser.

Memorization of word is not good way to assimilate vocabulary.Extensive reading on wide range of topics helps you to build good vocabulary.reading novels ,newspaper, magzine will certainly enhance your vocabulary.
1.first,start from simple novel reading just like Sherlock Holmes ,read it once to get big picture of story, then concentrate on vocabulary and make flashcards of vocabulary.flash cards mut carry word, part of speech, small definition, sentence usage and synonyms of words.
2.revise 10 cards per day not more than 10 words.revise all word till you become a master of all words.when you revised all words put stack aside and read other stack.
3.read the novel for 15 days to grasp a simple vocabulary.when you grasp over common words then this is high time to go further by reading newspaper vocabulary.
4.read dawn editorial daily and make flashcards.do same as for novel vocabulary.
5.after 1 month you will see that you can easily understand words and your vocabulary is enhanced by 10 folds.
6.in last listen podcast of sherlock holmes or cnn or bbc podcast, when you hear these words, then these words become a part of your memory next time when you speak these words comes out automatically.
