TITLE: WAR: Its impact on civilization and way forward
War is the main reason for the disintegration of civilization. Similar to other evils, it is only later that its devastating nature begins to reveal itself. In the formative stage of civilization's growth, war appears to be feasible and therefore occurs quite frequently. However, as the socio-economic and political strength of a society enhances, war becomes an expensive undertaking, draining man's cognitive and physical capacities and affecting his life. In the past, conscious efforts have been made to shun war to protect the community. Ultimate remedy, however, lies in individuals, who can pursue two ways of addressing this issue: they can either revoke their support for the war-waging state or persuade their state to tackle the root cause of war. Evidence, however, suggests that later is more likely to succeed. (130 words) |
