Miasma; A vapour rising from marshes or decaying vegetables (or dead bodies??) infecting or poisoning the athmosphere.
Moratorium; a legal authorization, usually by a law passed in an emergency, to delay payment of money due, as in by a bank.
Microcosm: A miniature universe. Like the ecosystem in a pond. Or an animal cell?!?
Nettle: weeds or plants with stinging hair, so can be used in the context of something irritating
Munificent; generous...verry!

Hobson's choice; a situation in which it seems that you can choose between different things or actions, but there is really only one thing that you can take or do. It's Hobson's choice, because if I don't agree to do what they want, I'll lose my job.

Putty in someone’s hands.
If you are putty in somebodys hands it means that they can easily get you to do whatever they want. “Asad is so gullible, he’s putty in my hands”

Out of the blue.
Out of nowhere. Something unexpected.
‘I was just crossing the street when out of the blue a van rushed by and left me reeling”

With out further /more ado.
Without further delay. “Lets start the show without further ado”

To look askance at.
To look down on something. “ As we made our way to the principals office, all the teachers looked at us askance.”

Hum and haw.
To avoid giving an answer by speaking irrelevantly or unclearly. “ When the reporter asked if there was any truth to the scandal, he hummed and hawed before finally admitting the truth.”

Flog a dead horse.
To waste time trying to do something that will not succeed. “I have tried reasoning with her but I guess Im just flogging a dead horse.”

Get mad, angry, lose temper. “ My mom would go spare if she found out Ive been skipping classes lately.”

When someone doesn’t understand something, he/ she uses this term to show that it is like a foreign language to them. “I can never understand poetry. Its all greek to me.”

To be in a difficult situation. “ Im in a cleft stick Ive just lost my job and rent is overdue.”

Dice with death.
To do something very dangerous. “You’re dicing with death speeding on your bike just after it has rained.”
