plz tell me about vocbulary building. How can i built my vocbulary and how much time requires for this target.

you can build your vocabulary by consulting Oxford English Advanced Learner's dictionary on the daily basis. try to cover & pay attention to each & every word tht how it is used in a context. you can do it while sitting pages per day. e.g, if you cover 10 pages per days then you can simply extend your vocabulary. its a tough job bcoz you need to be consistent.

There is no better solution than reading on a regular basis. Read anything and everything....use dictionary and grammar books for consultation.

I agree completely with Sajid, there can be no shortcut in vocab building.

When I'm reading something I keep a register and a dictionary handy (I use the dictionary I've installed on my mobile phone), and note down the new word I've read, look it up in the dictionary and note down it's meaning, and [B]most importantly I try to make atleast ONE sentence of my own using that new word I've learned[/B] in my register. In this way I can remember not only the meaning of that word, but also in what context it is used, so that I can use it when I'm writing something (essay, paragraph writing, etc).

I would complement Mubashir Asif as we have similar ways of learning. I used to learn 20 new words every day. But problem was that I forgot those after some time. So I started learning new words and made sentences of those words. For words I have learnt already, I randomly chose 20 old words and made sentences of those. So in a day I used to make 40 sentences for 40 words (20 new words + 20 old randomly chosen words).

as for as vocabulary concerns, u should go through this css forum vocabulary in vocab section, as of course the vocab is too much important but u should b clear about ur expression, if u hav good treasure of vocab but expression is less then ur vocab is worth less..

Hi,

I used to follow a rule sometimes ago to improve my vocabulary: you don't really know a word unless and until you can define it in English without any difficulty.

This made me understand the true meaning of the context of the words rather than the content of the meaning alone.
