Yeah I know where you read it. You won't believe I had to download the book, then search for the page where it was written. In my version, it was page 264 All this just to answer you. Thank God you are satisfied now

Oh! My Lord. Thanks my highness for such struggle. I was looking for one who could satiate me.
I and My friend had studied Wren and Martin collectively and he had asked me very sentence of Akbar. That time, i had used HAD and He (My friend) told me, "You are incorrect." Since that, it was in my mind not to use HAD while changing past indefinite. haha! Well, a good search is done.

"Past perfect tense describes an action that took place in the past before another past action. This tense is formed by using had with the past participle of the verb"
The prince example had two actions right? borne/nourished and then turning away the mother, one after the other.

The Akbar example does not relate two actions, one preceding the other.

Also how is the Akbar example past indefinite? doesn't everyone know when Akbar ruled?

The tenses will not change only if the statement is still relevant or if it is a universal truth.
