Default English CE-13 Strategy

Salam.....

Dear forum members most of the candidates have been doomed in English Paper. What should be the strategy to tackle this paper. Concrete suggestions would highly be appreciated.....

Please could I have strategies about precis, comprehensions etc...So that we can handle these things.

Note: The trend is bit changed i.e. should we read Pair of Words as it were not asked in CE-12....

Thanks.......

Default E.composition

yeah absolutely right.. i also got doomed in it.. i think its all because of our negligence that avoid practicing precis..

Somehow english composition paper is almost based on precis, comprehansion and expansion. if someone has attempted this part well, he would surely get through the paper with top marks..

As u said, some of the areas in paper like idioms and pair of words are limitless and uncoverable with ease.. i think the most important day to day idioms and pair of words should b memorised only instead of all..

*Caution*
DON NOT LEAVE ANYTHING AT ALL!
They could hit you from any side.

It seemed to be a myth that if someone fails to address the precis question well, he fails the whole paper!
I didn't think it was true but after seeing the devastating result of English General paper, I was somehow convinced.

So, your strategy should be to grasp the basics of precis writing and solve the precis of past papers as many as you can.

And one thing more, DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME ON SYNONYMS AND ANTONYMS. Just practice the past papers because you never know from where they would take these words.

Study smartly and utilize your time efficiently!

I solved the precis question first. It took 45-50 for me to complete the question. You should thoroughly read the paragraph of precis question twice (or thrice if you need to). Remember that time spent on the precis question doesn't go waste as it the most important question of the paper. Take your time and come up with a well knitted precis.
I would suggest you to attempt the precis question first. Otherwise there is no compulsion of attempting the questions in the given order.

I attempted my paper with almost No Preparation

As far as I remember I attempted in the following sequence
Q:6(a and b)
Q:5
Q:2
Q:3
Q:4

Thus, you can attempt any question which you feel easy to difficult. In other words, there is no hard and fast rule for attempting that what you have to be attempted first or 2nd....

I spent only 30-35 minutes on precis, because I was not well prepared in it. Just attempted whatever came in my mind. Don't waste your time on precis.

As far as for other portion's preparations is concerned....

1-Do writing practice as much as you can.

2-I did not attempt any precis or any past paper because I was short of time for that.

3-I just prepared only narration in composition (only one day preparation)

4-I skipped Synonyms Antonyms, Pair of Words and idioms. Because in my my opinion it is wastage of time. Rather, it is batter to read standard newspapers. So that you can make your English effective.

5-For Comprehension and expansion just read dawn's editorial. It is more than enough.

6-Do not waste your precocious time for getting preparation in Composition paper. In my view, just make your English expressive and do not make grammar mistakes.

7-Last but not least it is my opinion you can vary, as every one has its own way of preparation.

Furthermore, if you have any question for this paper it would be pleasure for me.

Best of Luck.
