Culture, in human societies, has two main aspects; an external, formal aspect and an inner, ideological aspect. The external forms of culture, social or artistic, are merely an organized expression of its inner ideological aspect, and both are an inherent component of a given social structure. They are changed and modified when this structure is changed or modified and because of this organic link they also help and influence such changes in their parent organism. Cultural Problems, therefore, cannot be studied or understood or solved in isolation from social problems, i.e. problems of political and economic relationships. The cultural problems of the underdeveloped countries, therefore, have to be understood and solved in the light of larger perspective, in the context of underlying social problems. Very broadly speaking, these problems are primarily the problems of arrested growth (stopped development); they originate primarily from long years of imperialist-Colonialist domination and the remnants of a backward outmoded (old-fashioned) social structure. This should not require much elaboration that European Imperialism caught up with the countries of Asia, Africa or Latin America between the sixteenth and nineteenth centuries. Some of them were fairly developed feudal societies with ancient traditions of advanced feudal culture. Others had yet to progress beyond primitive pastoral tribalism. Social and cultural development of them all was frozen at the point of their political subjugation and remained frozen until the coming of political independence. The culture of these ancient feudal societies, in spite of much technical and intellectual excellence, was restricted to a small privileged class and rarely intermingled with the parallel unsophisticated folk culture of the general masses. Primitive tribal culture, in spite of its child like beauty, had little intellectual content. Both feudal and tribal societies living contagiously () in the same homelands were constantly engaged in tribal, racial and religious or other feuds (hostility) with their tribal and feudal rivals. Colonialist – imperialist domination accentuated this dual fragmentation, the vertical division among different tribal and national groups, the horizontal division among different classes within the same tribal or national groups. This is the basic ground structure, social and cultural, bequeathed to the newly liberated countries by their former over lords.
Precis:
Culture or civilization of a society has two faces, external and internal which are interrelated. They are dependent uon the social set-up, therefore cultural and social issues cannot be separated, particularly in developing countries. The major problem is that of lower speed progress that basically, is caused by colonialism and its influences. The major imperialists of past few centuries were European and the imperialized were Asian and Africans. Most of these societies used to be dominated by fueadal system and rest even below it.This domination of foreign people caused the death of all systems i.e political and social..This system had two faces, the brighter one for the favored class and vise versa. The rivalary among tribes and clans was prevailing issue of these socities. Colonialism seemed to be responsible for The class difference in all perspectives. These were the assets that colonialist left nehind for colonials.

Can someone please check my precis? Comments and criticism would be highly appreciated. Thanks

"Human culture comprises of two main components: an external formal component that is a reflection of an inner ideological component. Both are organically linked to a social structure and induces changes in each other. Therefore, the study of cultural problems require an understanding of social problems particularly in under-privileged countries. Mostly, these problems are a product of colonial domination and outdated social structures. Western domination inhibited the growth of culture in these societies, thus, restricting it to a certain elite class. Consequently, the culture of lower masses failed to develop despite its beauty. Inter tribal conflicts were exacerbated by imperialism which further deepened the already existing inter and intra tribal divisions. The same culture was transferred to newly independent states"

15 is e) none of these because cajole and coax are same in meaning
18 is b) without resolution because irresolute is a state of mind not a physical condition ( being sturdy is a physical trait )

7- Deign (do something that one considers to be beneath one's dignity) is synonymous to Condescend (do something that one considers to be below one's dignity) but not to Disparage (regard or represent as being of little worth). The difference lies between doing and regarding.

18- Irresolute and option (b) Without resolution are synonymous. We need to choose the antonym over here. Yes Sturdy isn't the correct option as it is a physical trait. The correct option is (c) Yielding.

Default Dear True Grit, i have rectified some lines.

"Human culture comprises of two main components: an external formal component that is reflection of an inner ideological component. Both are organically linked to a social structure and induce changes in each other. Therefore, the study of cultural problems requires an understanding of social glitches/difficulties particularly in under-privileged countries. Mostly, these problems are a product of colonial control and outdated social structures. Western domination inhibited the growth of culture in these societies, thus restricting it to a certain elite class. Consequently the culture of lower masses failed to develop in spite of its beauty, however inter-tribal conflicts were exacerbated by imperialism which further deepened the already existing inter and intra tribal divisions. The same culture was transferred to newly independent states"

Post precis

kindly anyone checks mine Précis and highlight mistakes:

Culture can be expressed by its external or internal identities; external is an officially declared where the internal is based on the set of doctrines, the former reflects the latter in the social context. The cultural problems can only be comprehended when its political and economic problems are understood. However, in underdeveloped countries these problems should be solved which are raised radically when domination is extended over others and perpetual antiquated social entities. Political development is a driving force for both social and cultural development. As, culture of authoritative societies were lacking thoughtful and enlightened attributes instead the acquisition of rationality. Those societies which were ruled by lords indulged in their own internal conflicts. The fundamental culture identities of any country are offered by its prior aristocrats.

Default Comprehension

kindly seniors check my comprehension:

Read the following passage and answer the question that follow. Use your own language.(20)

The civilization of China, as everyone knows, is based upon the teaching of Confucius, who flourished five hundred years before Christ. Like the Greeks and Romans, he did not think of human society as naturally progressive; on the contrary, he believed that in remote antiquity rulers had been wise, and the people had been happy to a degree which the degenerate present could admire but hardly achieve. This, of course, was a delusion. But the practical result was that Confucius, like other teachers of antiquity, aimed at creating a stable society, maintaining a certain level of excellence, but not always striving after new successes. In this he was more successful than any other men who ever lived. His personality has been stamped on Chinese civilization from his day to our own. During his lifetime the Chinese occupied only a small part of present-day China, and were divided into a number of warring states. During the next three hundred years they established themselves throughout what is now China proper, and founded an empire exceeding in territory and population any other that existed until the last fifty years. In spite of barbarian invasions, Mongol and Manchu dynasties, and occasional longer or shorter periods of chaos and civil war, the Confucian system survived, bringing with it art and literature and a civilized way of life. A system which has had this extra ordinary power of survival must have great merits, and certainly deserves our respect and consideration. It is not a religion, as we understand the word, because it is not associated with the supernatural or with mystical beliefs. It is a purely ethical system, but its ethics, unlike those of Christianity, are not too exalted for ordinary men to practice. In essence, what Confucius teaches is something very like the old-fashioned ideal of a ‘gentleman’ as it existed in the eighteenth century. One of his sayings will illustrate this: 'The true gentleman is never contentious ... he courteously salutes his opponents before taking up his position ... so that even when competing he remains a true gentleman'.

Questions:

1. why do you think the author calls Confucius' belief about the progress of human society as a delusion?

Ans: I think the author calls the Confucius’ belief about the progress of human society as a delusion, because Confucius thought the ancient rulers were greatly intellectual than him, but in reality he got much triumph than any other ever existed leader for acquiring consistent and prosper society.

2. How did Confucius' though affect China to develop into a stable and 'Proper' China?

Ans: Confucius was highly impressed by the wisdom of ancient rulers, which led him to develop a ‘stable’ and a ‘proper’ China pragmatically. His optimistic approach was greatly influenced the Chinese civilization. Eventually, his long-lasting determination and strenuous efforts led the small territory occupied China to a widespread contemporary existed China.

3. Why does the author think that Confucian system deserves respect and admiration?

Ans: According to the author’s point of view; the Confucian system is certainly praiseworthy because it had been enduring the emerging intricate situations while the uncivilized invasion of Mogul and Manchu dynasties. Additionally, it had been not only facing the defy of transient disorder and an absence of civic peace, but also preserved the attributes of its culture and civilization.
4. Why does the author call Confucian system a purely ethical system and not a religion?

Ans: The author calls Confucian system a purely ethical system because there was an absence of the faith in the divine and as well as religious fanaticism. Rather, it was based on the set of doctrines. However, its ethical system was dissimilar to Christianity, which is highly sublime to be exercised by a common man.

5. Briefly argue whether you agree or disagree to Confucius' ideal of a gentleman?

Ans: I agree with Confucius’ ideal of a gentleman because a real gentleman is the one who never envoy with other, rather he struggles hard to achieve his goal.

Some senior member plz give suggestions for improvement
Social structure and cultural development
The external and ideological aspects of culture are interlinked with the social structure of societies. To solve cultural problems, it is imperative to understand social problems. In case of underdeveloped countries, they remained subjected to imperialism and colonialism and their cultural development was hindered, until their political independence.. Society was divided into feudal and tribal classes, and, in these classes cultural development was restricted to small number of people. Also they were engaged in various feuds by virtue of their former lords.
