Procrastination is the theft of time.
Procrastination means delay of action. Life is action, not contemplation. Those who are in the habit of putting off their things on tomorrow, waste only time and achieve no success. As time is the most precious thing in life so the consequences of its wastage are ravaging. A wise person adroitly manages its time. He remains busy for the fulfillment of his aims. Indulgence in worthless activities finds no place in his daily life. While a naïve sets targets many goal-open many fronts to fight-without completing one goal. So no success is rewarded to him. History doesn’t engrave his name in its annals. Just take an outlook of Pakistan where many years and millions of rupees have been spent for the construction of Kala Bagh Dam. The construction of this dam is vital for the economy and survival of Pakistan. But all in vain, as this project is not even started as many political parties have made it a controversial issue for hegemony of their political existence. Political representatives are at daggers drawn either in support or opposition of this project. The procrastination of building a dam has swelled the miseries of people-in form of flood and unscheduled long load shedding. If it had been built, devastation would be lessened. As Pakistan has already a fragile economy so they have added additional burden not only on the budget but also on the people. A number of industrial units have been closed while foreign investors are reluctant to invest their capitals in Pakistan. The cult of unemployed people is at increase while ratio of criminal activities is damaging the social fabric. It’s the out come of procrastination a project. Similarly, a recent example in Chile is sufficient to prove that strong nations don’t waste their time in idle talks. 33 miners were buried alive in a mine with inadequate food supply. The govt. didn’t waste its time in debating the issue in parliament. It didn’t let its people to die for adding one other tragedy in mines as burial of miners is not an uncommon issue. Rather the govt. worked to rescue them; didn’t delay the task on the other day. So many lives escaped an assured death owing to the skillful management of the issue. Such examples are many! The need of the hour is to draw lesson from them. As those who fritter away their time and energy in procrastination, always remain deprived!
