beggars are not Choosers
MAZARAT K SATH
Pakistan is a land of oppourtunities , but unforyunately, it is begging from others to fulfill the socio-economic and political demands of its people . Owing to its dependency upon others it has failed to register protest against Salala Attack( by NATO forces in Khurrum Agency which claimed the lives of 24 Paki soldiers), OBL operation, Raymond Davis case among the comity of nations. Furthermore, Kerry Lugar Bill , Dana Rohrabachar hearing regarding Baulochistan and Drone attacks are the open violations of the territorial integrity and political sovereignty of the Quaid's piece of land. It is the piece of land because it doesnt fulfill the essentials of the statehood. Here people are living worst than the animals. They cun like a fox and fight like a dog. There is no respect for the humanity. Women are sold and purchased here like commidities. Groping and shackling in prisons are common , sexual harassment and abuse at work places are common, they are burnt alive, acid throwing, killing on the name of honour , obsolete customs |(vani, karokari) , women trafficking, forced prostitution, genetials mutilations, shaving of heads and eyebrows are habitual practicses and are done with impunity. Moreover, our politicians have left no stone unturned to exploit, persecute and ...k the electocrate . Democracy in Pakistan is lingering on, coalition governments are made for nothing except to provide protection to their puppies who have been alleged to make corruption (NICL Scam, Hajj Scam). , a man who is ruling us ,nonetheless, a criminal who has spent a no of years in jaol. Black laws like NRo are effective to provide safeguard to the political vultures , Open defiance of court's orders, slaps on the faces of polling agents (Waheeda Shah case), lack of consensus on crucial matters, can be seen. i dont know what the hell is the problem with the electorate of this country ,ist they select inappropriate persons then they let them do what they want. Check the severity of the issue our economic hub of the country (karachi) is controlled by a person who havent come to pakistan for 20 years. Coming towards the economy of the country, one can clearly see that it is at the verge of collapse and bankruptcy. devaluation of rupee, bleeding Public sector enterprises, circular debt are the hallmarks of the economy of Pakistan. All the essential ingredients of economy like inflation, employment ratio, GDP etc appear worrisome. Alas, the country is going towards failure. It is very difficult to judge here that are Pakistanies cursed or this turmoil has been written in their fate. The failure of our political , social, and economic stakeholders to design a free and sound foreign policy and their dependency upon others and ,especially, the worship of the USA have given this nation nothing except "the Begging Bowl" but it has been sagiously said that "the beggars are not choosers" |

Objection
Dear brother i have certain reservations regarding the paragraph u have written. i'm afraid you have committed a number of mistakes. To mention a few i must write to tell you that:
1. The tone of the passage is not formal and needs a second thought 2. Some words used are highly objectionable in formal writing such as 'puppies', 'what the hell' etc. These are not formal written words to be used in such writing. 3. You have rather deviated from the main topic which is 'beggars shoud not be choosers'. Pakistani system and politicians may be made but a part of this passage as an example. The whole paragraph must not be written about Pakistani system. you must discuss the general phenomena of the title and then come to Pakistan. Hope my comments would be taken positively.. Regards, Cosmic libertine

In my point of view while writing an essay or note at any topic you must not go anti-state, emotional or very hard word in it. you must look in your writing that passage is reflecting your brain coolness and dealing the query with cold blood.

Dear we have no objection but just for your guidance. I have a precedent. A friend who use to write in the columns of the daily news got failed in essay. I conclude / extract from that, the expression of your mental is very important in essay writing. Corrections / amendments are warmly welcomed

This is how I attempted this essay in the 2012 papers:
Beggars cannot be choosers - What's a beggar and what's a chooser: a chooser makes his own decisions, based on his interests - he is free to choose. A beggar is at the mercy of others. He does not have a say in the affairs of his present or in developing a vision for his future. - Post colonial international scenario: the division of the world between the haves and the have nots - the choosers and the beggars. - Start at the personal level - from the specific to the general. Talk about how a beggar on the street cannot even exert any control over his own life, let alone the lives of others. Talk about self-sufficiency and self-respect. Talk about the labourer, who is still better off than the beggar but still not at par with an educated man, who is the maker of his own destiny - a chooser. And then apply the same principle at the state-level. - So how are beggars and choosers made? Why are we considered beggars? Cite examples from ancient and contemporary history about nations that were powerful but became beggars and viceversa. Mention the ancient Egyptians and then Egypt under the Ptolemies, about the Ottomans under Suleiman and the Ottomans under Abdul Majed, etc. Then cite the reasons why Pakistan is still compelled to follow the dictates of foreign state and non-state actors. - Lastly, briefly sum up how Pakistan can get out of this perpetual cycle of dependency and join the ranks of the newly emerging truly free nations. End with some patriotic sentiments but do it subtly and don't go overboard with it. Of course, one can even write a literary essay on this subject. However, my essay was a reflection of my IR background. |
