The Golden Rule is that there is no golden rule

Laws are made for people and not people are made for laws. So, there is nothing fix like 'golden rule' in the book of humanity.

Importance of person and peace is at greatest level. Laws are made by the people to achieve certain goals for the betterment of people and humanity as a whole. Wisdom, actually, lies in it that if humanity is at stake for the achievement of goals, laws or rules should be altered. At individual level, one should set certain rules for himself regarding morality and self-respect but if one's survival is suffering, those rules should be reconsidered. Internationally, there is no specific rule for a friend or foe. As Deng Xiaoping rightly quoted, "It does'nt matter if the cat is a white cat or a black cat as long as it catches the mice." State's prior objective is the attainment of national interests. in the pursuance of that national interest, no state has a permanent policy. For instance, last year USA was intended to bomb Syria to rescue it from cruel regime of Bashar-ul-Asad, but, today is considering it a potential ally against ISIS. Laws of international community, such as, Human Rights, and rules regarding equality for all is disobeyed by the champions of democracy themselves. Recent racial segregation in Fergueson, USA, regarding the murder of black unarmed teenager by a white policeman, is a case in point.

Briefly, the only golden rule in the book of man is to save his interest in anyway. For that purpose, altering laws is no big deal.

Default Good Effort

Hi shahla,
I just read your paragraph and I've found certain things you need to work on.
1)When you use "one" in a sentence, you carry it on to the end of it,e.g you said :"
Code:
At individual level, one should set certain rules for himself
" it would be " At individual level, ONE should set certain rules for ONESELF"

2)I think you need to focus a little more on your sentence structure. It would be better if your thoughts are expressed in an aesthetically pleasing manner.

3)It seems a broad topic and I think a lot more could be added into it.
it appeared to me that you were working on the "Might is right theme". this topic is much more than that I guess!

I am writing this comment in the spirit of goodwill and I hope that you will take it that way:-)

Default Can someone mark the expansion

I have attempted CSS-2012 short essay below and request the CSPs and other aspirants to mark the idea expansion, i take criticism very seriously, please help me out and rate the essay, kindly also suggest whether it meets the CSS criteria?

Nearer the church, Farther from God.

It is true that real happiness of a man comes from his accomplishment of the quest for the divine God. It is for us to decide the appropriate mode and manner in which the quest is pursued, mere ritualistic ways of worship will not necessarily bring us closer to God. But instead they may further widen the gap.

The reason why most of us are not content with our lives, despite the frequent visits we pay to the church, temple or mosque is because we tend to forget the essence of worship and by doing so we develop a habit intended to fulfill our periodic religious duties, such customs may appeal to the mind briefly but the underlying meaning is eventually lost and all that is left is a mere religious form of exercise.

The great prophet Muhammad (PBUH) was meditating in cave Hira when the divine revelation from Allah arrived, he did not go to a monastery or a place of worship to find God, instead he chose to ponder, and challenged the defected beliefs of the people, later when he preached, he preached with reason in order to awaken the concision of disbelievers and when he prayed, he prayed like he was in direct conversation with God which nothing on earth could interrupt. He also said to he fellow Muslims "Worship like Allah Sees you".

Prayer and worship is a spiritual experience and true devotion to God must come from within, Rumi said "Worship without love is burden", only a heart filled with love of God can feel a sense of nearness in his worship of the almighty, and if God is not present in the heart of a believer, despite his night and day of worship, he is farther from God.

Default seniors step-in plz

No sensible man ever made an apology

We ask forgiveness on any of our mistake. Sensible people do not come across any such event that they seek pardon. It is their sanity which keep them away from embarrassment, therefore, they are known as sensible people.
'An ounce of care is worth a pound of cure' (Henry de Bracton). Whether it is speech or deeds, one should care their words and actions to avoid shame at the end. History marks uncountable personalities as great or sensible people. Analyzing the qualities of such people, one can find the quality of farsightedness. They weighed their words and actions before implementing on them. In contrast, people who think after doing some actions or uttering words, often face apology. A known example from history is of Hitler. He had to suicide to end his life after 'Lebansraum' his Greater Germany policy. His actions were at the expense of neighboring states and citizens. Mass massacre of Jews was greatly criticized by contemporaries. Though his actions could be justified as love for his country, but, his policies were greatly a matter of seeking apology from humanity.
Quaid's example, on the other hand, is a true gentle man whose words were meant. He never spoke words or did any such deed that he had to face apology. His dealings in personal capacity as well as in political struggle are worth followed. Thus, genteel of a person in his appearance and outlook never let him down before people.

Default Is democracy an ideal form of government?

Please seniors evaluate my expansion and point out grammatical mistake. thanx

Government of the People, by the People, and for the People
Richard A. Epstein
There can be difference of opinion in the given statement. But in my point of view, democracy is an ideal form of government. In democracy we elect our leaders through electoral process while in dictator ship , there is no concept of voting. Dictatorship is the only one man show and people are mostly not allowed to go beyond what their dictator thinks and acts. While in democracy people are allowed to think and speak freely. In democracy both majorities and minorities are given equal rights. Democracy is the only plate form where people can voice their opinion irrespective of their cast, creed and religion. In democratic process problems can be solved in better way. Also, in democracy human rights are given due importance. It also gives dignity to man. If democratic leaders fail to deliver then democracy is the best way to revenge by not casting vote to that very party in next elections. While in dictatorship, there is no concept of such public power.
There are many examples of democratic form of governments in the world like United States of America , Britain, Switzerland and many other European countries. In all these countries democracy is proved very much successful.
As for as Pakistan is concerned, unfortunately, Pakistan is run by military dictatorship for quite a large period of time alternate with a little democracy. And that little democracy also remained under pressure of Khaki. That’s why, in Pakistan, institutions are not much strong. But now things are changing. Very first time in Pakistan’s history, one democratic government has transferred powers to other elected government. But we should remain optimistic and inshAllah one day the dawn of prosperity and progress will rise.

Dont you think the proverb implies something different from the literal meanings, I think we have not actually understood the meaning. Please review my expansion, i may be wrong, need suggestions...

IF WANTS WERE HORSES EVEN BEGGARS WOULD RIDE

Every man on this earth has a heart filled with desires, desires to be successful, to achieve what one wants, however not every one of them gets to see his desires come true. Only those who are able to translate their desires into actions are successful, for if only wishing was sufficient to get something there would have been no beggar on the face of earth.

This proverb implies that whatever has been dreamt of in this world was accomplished through action, through hard work, otherwise if only wishing could provide some results even beggars would be able to lead a luxury life. When Martin Luther Knig dreamt of an egalitarian society no divine hand accomplished his wish be the swing of a magic wand, “I Have a Dream” was not only a speech made by him but in fact it lad to concrete steps towards a revolution for which he had to go through great torment and did great effort to make his dream come true. Alexander dreamt of conquering the world and for that purpose he made all his life a continuous struggle in the direction of his goals. On the other hands beggars are people who are not willing to stretch themselves to achieve their goals, who always wait for an external help to get them to their desired life, which is not possible in this practical world.

Human desires are unlimited and unrestrained but these wishes are useless unless practical steps are taken to accomplish them, beggars have wishes too but they do not exert some practical efforts to achieve them. Those who forget that wishing is followed by actions in the required direction never achieve their wishes.

Zohaib please critically evaluate

Please review the following:

It's Not The End Of The World

We are all human beings. It's in our nature to explore different objects around us. When we are curious about something, we tend to work hard and try to get to the gist of it. No matter how hard it is, we put the best effort and succeed in our objective. But, on the other hand, failures too come with successes. Man learns from his failures that he commits while trying to succeeding in something. Similarly, grief and happiness go side by side. Life is a cycle of happy as well as sad moments. We are satisfied with our lives when we have happier moments, and we tend to live longer for admiring the gift of life. But when we are in trouble, we feel depressed and vulnerable. We often start having suicidal thoughts that a certain problem is going to become hard on us and we cannot face it. Such a situation shatters our spirit, motivation and drive for life. But with failures come success. As Quran quotes that with all difficulties comes the ease. So during the process when man is striving to achieve something, he must not think that if he has once failed, he will not be able to rise and shine again. Even when he is at a low point in his life, he must realize that this is not going to be the end of the world and he will definitely find some other opportunity in which he can excel. So a person must not feel disappointed on making a mistake or failing on something. He must strike back hard with putting greater effort and hard work and should become motivated to achieve his aim he missed out previously. He must therefore make this pledge to himself that he will learn from his mistakes and will become a better individual in order to meet those challenges he is facing. Such a drive and passion for his vision will enable him to get past every hardship, however grievous it is.

Knowledge is the Power: (Expansion)

"Ignorance is the curse of God; knowledge is the wing wherewith we fly to heaven"
William Shakespeare

Knowledge is the light, while ignorance is the gloom. The real power is in the power of knowledge. A person can be physically strong, but if he doesn't have the power of knowledge, he is no better than an animal. The difference between man and animal is a reason. Knowledge enhances the capacity of reasoning. A person can tackle worlds most difficult problems through knowledge. Prophet Muhammad (P.B.U.H) used to win from non Muslims through reasoning. This made Islam as the fastest growing religion in the world. No conqueror can be a great leader without knowledge. Sher Shah Suri is considered as a biggest reformer in history of Sub Continent. It was his power of knowledge which made him able to reform a backward society into a progressive one within a short span of four years. He gave land reforms, financial system and military setup with great expertise. Moreover, It was the knowledge and understanding which helped Jinnah to achieve the title of Quaid-e-Azam. He is considered as one of the finest lawyers in the history of the world. This made him capable enough to fight the case of million of Muslims and get a separate homeland for them. Hence proved that the power of pen, i.e. knowledge, is greater than the sword.

[B][U]Adversity brings man to his self

The saying is loaded with the wisdom and realism. In order to know about the reality of life, adversity is important. It brings man nearer to himself. The opposite of poverty is prosperity. The people who are rich and have the resources are living a luxuriant life. It is far from reality. They live in a false world, focused on worldly benefits. Great personalities of the world lived a life of adversity and hardships. All the Prophets, who came to the people, had a life full of austerity and sacrifices. The last Prophet (P.B.U.H) was a shepherd. He has to bear the difficulties of life patiently. He is the most beloved person of Allah, but almighty put him in great difficulties to make him meet his self. Whereas, people had to go an extra mile to achieve something in life. Nelson Mandela, one of the most respectable leaders of the world, worked day and night to get equal status for blacks in South Africa. He was jailed for 28 years, but his will to achieve something for his people made him bear all the hardships. As a result, he is known to this world as a true leader. Moreover, a famous philosopher Rumi once said, "Everthing in this world is within you. Ask all from yourself". If a person wants to achieve the real wealth, he should first understand his self and face difficulties of life to get the actual reality of the existence.

Can anyone comment on this Expansion.
