Default 'would rather' with different subjects

'Would rather' is understandable when used with single subject e.g.

I would rather apply for the post.

But I can't understand the meaning of 'would rather' sentences with different subjects e.g.

I would rather you applied for the post.

What will be its Urdu translation?
