Can anyone tell me the difference b/w these two sentences?
1) I would call Lisa if I had her number. 2) I would have called Lisa if I'd had her number. |
Can anyone tell me the difference b/w these two sentences?
1) I would call Lisa (would has been used for a current desire ) if I had her number(second part of the given sentence is purely past perfect tense). 2) I would have called Lisa( desire is in the past perfect tense because of the addition of word have) if I'd had her number. no need to use "d with I in I'd in the second part of the sentence. This would is extra and spoils the grammatical attraction of the sentence.
( |
