is craming oxford advanced enought o prepare for vocab??

is there ne way to cram that all? !!!!!!!!!!!CRAM!!!!!!!!!! do tell me if you find sum way!

There is no Way to CRAM all the dictionary i guess. You can learn it indeed , he he he but will take time above imagination.[B]It would be a wild goose chase to be more precise[/B]

Here is a technique which will surely help you to memorize words & there meanings:

Every week, take some words from dictionary, write them on a board and keep reading them everytime it comes in contact to your eye. This way, you will probably read them 5/6 times a day and 35/42 times a week. How is it?:vic

[COLOR="Blue"][B]reading with understanding is the most reliable source to memorize words. the best way to get used to using words is only the comprehensive reading of any article.
when u read with a comprehensive touch you probably go through the words every time u read.
i think familiarity with the words is very much essential. what if you memorize the words from dictionary and they wont work for u as u are not used to them.
u see the lawyers are used to the vocabulary of law,so are doctors with medicines.
its very much natural to get the words in ur practice for it is the practice that draggs u to the ultimate and natural flow of langauge.
some how i agree with nida shoukat she also right, but same is the case though we cram the words but no logical touch is there[/B][/COLOR]

@ Ali domino :- i agree with your point of view. My personal openion is that words are pegs of ideas, and ideas can not be learnt apart from the circumstance to which they describe. peculiar example of this would be our mother tongue. we may not be well versed with difficult words of our m.t yet we communicate fluently. the reason for this is that we know what we want to say in '' ideas'' rather than in 'words'
words signify essence of ideas. so, if u enrich your ideas, u wd enrich your vocabulary, and its fine shades of meaning. ideal of this would be stories, novels, and subject related vocabulary like political scien, law, and other stuff.
one more thing, to understand use of english language or anyother language, one should concentrate on the use of structure of sentence, use of modal words. a simple sentence like 'Cogito ergo sum' which means ' i think therefore i m' has got more appeal than a sentence with bombastic, high soundng words.

By doing exercises from GRE and TOEFL websites one can increase ones vocab to a great extent.

one can improve his vocabulary by sudying aricles thoroughly. once you encounered a difficult word find its meaning in dictionay and then use this word in you own sentences. try to repeat these words for three or four days. it may help impove your vocabulary

There r many ways to memorize the words:

1. Keep Cards with u and while travelling read them, while sitting free take them out and revise them, but to make the cards use the blank Visiting card write the word on one side and the meening on the other.

2. by keeping the small pocket size note book with u and adding the new words in it.

3. the word u think is new for u or u want to memorize them so prectise them in ur on sentence and writing them.

4. by using it in repetadely in verbal communication.

Rewrite the list a LOT and each time you do, say the words in your head and out loud. Every 5 words close your eyes and repeat the words preceeding.

Go through the list and see if any of the words are correlated in any way (if they sound the same, if they have similar meanings or if they fit into a similar category). If you find any that are related memorize them together, it'll make recall easier.

Lastly try to see if you can personalize anything. It sounds weird but if you personalize something, it becomes easier to remember.

I'm not going to lie-- its going to take some time. Consider taking breaks every hour or so, that way you don't burn out.[/COLOR][/I][/B]
