a) White elephant, The presence of the Ex-Chairman in the boardroom was that of a white elephant, we ignored him and carried on with the proceedings.

b) Blue Blood, Chris Johnson is a successful and suave businessman whose nouveau riche ways and lack of blue blood keep him from full acceptance in polite English high society.

c) Cleanse the Augean stable, Dilapidated and decaying due to years of neglect, the restoration of the National Museum was a task akin to cleansing the Augean stable.

d) Apple of discord,With the judiciary restored, the next showdown between Chief Justice and the Government is being highly anticipated, with the apple of discord being the President’s extraordinary powers.

e) In good books, All I had to do was sing praises for his latest Novel and I was instantly in his good books.

2. This is the most earliest that I have come to the office.
3. He has drove his car all over the Europe.
4. We bought a new car from a salesman with air conditioning.
5. The Scientists predict that the ice age will return again.
6. Either the mother or the father take the blame.
7. Open the door for lady like a man should.
8. They added a garage to their house made of aluminum.
9. Wanting appreciation is a universal desire common to all people.
10. Mumps are a very painful illness.

I think the correct sentence would like this.
I wish he would be there.
Between you and I, he is richer. (This seems to me correct)

("Universal" has the same meaning as the phrase, "common to all people," hence having both in one sentence would make it redundant).
