Default Is it correct?

Experience is the name everyone gives to their mistakes.
This is the title of an essay and it was given in the paper of 2001, perhaps.

Is it grammatically correct?

Can we use their with everyone?

Yes, anyone/everyone/someone, all with 'one' means all 'individually' addressed which is singular and used with 'gives'.

Structure-wise "theirs mistakes" is wrong. 'Their mistakes' and 'mistakes of theirs/them' are right ones.

Yes, this is what i have heard and studied. The thing confuses is;

Error #2: Pronoun Errors
Pronoun errors occur when pronouns do not agree in number with the nouns to which they refer. If the noun is singular, the pronoun must be singular. If the noun is plural, however, the pronoun must be plural as well. For example:

Incorrect: Everybody must bring their own lunch.
Correct: Everybody must bring his or her own lunch.

This thing reminded me about the above essay.

Everyone is a singular noun, so should it not be followed by a singular pronoun? As it is said in the above link.

Taking it simply, it's Present Indefinite..

"Har koi apni ghaltiyun ko tajurbe ka naam deta he.. "

Everyone >> Singular
S or es with Verb give >> gives
Being singular in subject, there must be "his or her" replaced with "their"...But in this way, beauty of sentence will be lost..
May be it will be better to write it as "Experience is the name people give to their mistakes"..

Incorrect: I saw every woman and every girl raise their hands.

Correct: I saw every woman and every girl raise her hands.

Incorrect: Everyone of us should be faithful to their organisation.

Correct: Everyone of us should be faithful to his organisation.
