Seniors, please!! This is what I did in Precis. Can I still pass?

So, I am not being to able to sleep because of my continuous flirtation with the errors that I made in Precis exam. Every passing day, as the result week draws closer, I am becoming excessively impatient, thinking only and only about my Precis exam.

So, following are the errors that I made:

1. My Precis title was not up to the mark. It was something like “Weather and Human Beings.”
2. I did my Precis in last half hour. My command of English language is good. I tried my best to deliver the most suitable Precis, of course. But I am not sure if I could pull it.
3. I translated “saqafat” and “sufi” as “civilization” and “ascetic” - which again I think is wrong. The right would be “culture” and “mystic”.
4. Almost 11 of my objective part questions were right.

The rest of my paper was fairly better.

Now my question is: Can a candidate with a bad Precis go on to pass the exam? Do you know of anyone who believed that he or she would fail a particular exam but went on to clear it?

I will be absolutely thankful if somebody answer my abov questions.

you wil get around 8 marks in precis and 4 marks in translation(due to wrong meaning of word , translation of sentence would be wrong and each sentence posseses one mark) . if your comprehesion and rest of the paper went well then dont worry.

you chances are still high. baki dua ki zarorat ha ab.
wish you best of luck

Precis Paper outcome

Dear LouisXIV,
Here is my detailed analysis on your questions:
I think Precis paper will be most important in deciding passed candidates this time.
Well, your Precis title “Weather and Human Beings.” is not irrelevant and still somehow matches to original precis title that was like “Influence of Climate on Character” but 99% candidates wouldn't have written title exactly same as original and they may have written words like impact, humans, nature which are relevant. You will surely get atleast half marks for your precis title i.e 2.5 out of 5
You mentioned that your command of English language is good and you written your best in precis, well it totally depends on examiner if he likes your precis strategy or not but you will get 6-8 marks for sure, if you written in 3rd person, short sentences, words limit between 105-125, most important is if you used synoyms of important difficult words in your precis i.e OBSTACLES (you should write it as hurdles) etc.
Using word “Civilization” for Saqafat is totally wrong and same that you used for tasawuf. But 90% of candidates must have either done these word wrong either one of them or both and both words were mainly difficult in translation but the Saqafat mistake will lose you more marks than Tasawuf mistake because Saqafat (Culture) was mostly used in paragraph and tassawuf used in only two sentences. However, believing you wrote both of these wrong may still result in awarding you 3-4 marks if you didn't made any other mistake in translation and written well. Like if you used Buried (for madfoon) and Ancient or Old (for Qadeem) etc. then it is possible to get 3-4 marks.

As per overall anlysis, if you can share your answers of Comprehension questions and you can secure alteast 8 marks in comprehension, likewise if your calculation says that you can secure atleast 22 sure marks in both mcqs and 30 marks objective questions (correction, preposition, punctuation, direct/indirect, pair of words and idioms) then you can pass this exam otherwise it seems difficult because of your translation mistakes and confusion about your precis.

My best wishes are with you, I also attempted this paper and need your prayers because I also made some of these mistake same as yours.
