Manto: A Victim of Hypocrisy
Manto’s writing contradicted the social fabric of society that consisted of hypocrites. He was labelled as indecent and his writings were judged with standards of morality. Despite all the allegations put by people, Manto kept on navigating the stark realities of human existence. He was a realist and always annoyed by the dual standards of people. The character of his stories belonged to a middle or lower middle class, who never faked to be virtuous. Manto’s writing was sober because he never sounds vulgar, he was just exploring what already existed in the society. People made him victim to their interpretations.
