The middle class of 9th century did not belong to the society according to Basent. Besides their professional life they were given no importance in society by family terms. The middle class grown itself a respectable society and had undergone many changes since aristocratic time. They had values for poverty, thrift, hand work same as lower class behaviour, but difference in opinion still exist due to some universally recognised conventions like drunker, wild and ill-ordered life were considered disrespectful.
