2010 precis..... make ur effort!!!
Of all the characteristics of ordinary human nature envy is the most unfortunate; not only does the envious person wish to inflict misfortune and do so whenever he can with impunity, but he is also himself rendered unhappy by envy. instead of deriving pleausre from what he has, he derives pain from what others have. if he can, he deprives others of their advantages, which to him is as desirable as as it would be to secure the same advantages himself. if this passion is allowed to run riot it becomes fatal to all excellence, and even the most useful exercise of exceptional skill. why should a medical man go to see his patients in a car when the labourer has to walk to his work? why should the scientifc investigator be allowed to spend his time in a warm room when others have to face the inclemency of the elements? why should a man who possesses some rare talent of great importance to the world be saved fromt he drudgery of his own housework? to such questions envy finds no answer. fortunately, however, there is in human nature a compensating passion, namely that of admiration. whosoever wishes to increase human happiness must wish to increase admiration and to diminish envy. what cure is there for envy? for the saint there is the cure of selflessness, though even in the case of saints envy of other saints is by no means impossible. but, leaving saints out of account, the only cure of envy in the case of ordinary men and women is happiness, and the difficulty is that envy is itself a terrible obstacle to happiness. but the envious man may say: 'what is the good of telling me that the cure of envy is happiness? i cannot find happiness while i continue to feel envy, and you tell me that i cannot cease to be envious until i find happiness.' but real life is never so logical as this. mereley to realize the cause of one's own envious feeling is to take a long step towards curing them.

My effort
Respected Elders and Juniors
I have tried to make precis of 2010 css paper. here it is. Précis: Envy -- The curse of human nature and its cure. Envy, the most absurd characteristics of human nature, always gives misery of unhappiness to the envious person. He always thinks about the gains of others which he doesn’t want them to have and thus add pains to his life. In contrast, admiration which is the key to happiness and resultantly the cure of envy. (In contrast, admiration is the key to happiness and happiness infact is the cure of envy.) To admit and realize causes of one own envious feelings is the road to curb this disease Hoping for critical evaluation. Thanks |

Nice effort. I appreciate your style. Some suggestions: 1. You put a sentence within brackets. It is almost the same sentence you had written just before that sentence. I didn't understand its logic. It seems a little absurd in precis. 2. If you see the main points of the precis. Then in my thinking there are three main points. First point is that why envy is bad, second point is about its cure and the third point is why an envious man cant get rid of it. You included first two points but missed the last one. However overall your precis is a good try. Keep it up. Regards |

Thanks
Thanks for ur comments.
Actually i have written the sentence in brackets as an alternative for the for the previous one.I mean i was seeking suggestion that which one between these two will be appropriate to use. In contrast, admiration which is the key to happiness and resultantly the cure of envy. (In contrast, admiration is the key to happiness and happiness infact is the cure of envy.) And about missing the third part you are right. Thanks for your time and precious comments. With Regards Mansoor Arshad

Envious person accumulates its sufferings not by rekindling the lit of pleasure but by having ill desires and their application on others for getting them deprived of their pleasures. This sort of mindset utilizes its faculties in wrong way, and becomes unanswerable to some prevailing questions. To counterbalance this effect human has an intrinsic to add richness in its life by feeling the pleasure, which should be enhanced to subjugate envy. Happiness is the only cure which finds itself easy in curbing the envy.

@ mansoor: good effort
@ riaz: can b better here is mine: PLZ EVALUATE: "Envy is one of the worst human attributes. It is a double-edged sword that does not only hurt others but also takes the peace and happiness away from the life of an envious person himself. However, human nature is also endowed with the characteristic of admiration that can offset the ills of envy and provide happiness. Therein lies the real remedy for envy which, in turn, remains elusive because of the envy itself. It is this vicious cycle that accentuates the difficulty of the problem.Nevertheless, an attempt to undertand the causes of envy can greatly lead to their cure."

An envious personality
AN ENVIOUS PERSONALITY
Being envious is in human nature. An envious person never find happiness in what he has.He always complaints about what others have.He desires to get more. And the more he gets the more he wants.Even he does not notice how other fulfill their needs by minimum resources. Its necessary for such kind of person to be happy. But when its suggested to him he always regret this idea.He should himself realize and make efforts to get rid of envy. |
