Default "Unvintagable Sea" Meaning ??
Please help me out. I am not getting the meaning of this word. Here is a paragraph which contains this word.

We have even in Homer a similar feeling as regards the sea, — the sea that proved the source of all their wealth and the condition of most of their greatness. Before they had learned all this, they called it “the unvintagable sea”

it means that in ancient times, when the people were not aware of the potential advantages of the sea, they considered it as an ares which cannot be crossed. same was the thought found in the poetry of ancient famous poet Homer.

they considered it a scary thing. natural landscape was a dreadful thing for them in ancient times
