Lightbulb Energy Crisis hurts Pakistan's Economy

Energy Crisis hurts Pakistan’s Economy
Outlines:-
1) Introduction
2) Pakistan’s Energy Sector
3) Resources of Energy Production
4) Causes of Energy Crisis
5) Effect on our Economy
6) Recommendations
7) Conclusion

Introduction:-
Energy is considered to be life of any economy. It affects socioeconomic affairs of country. In this industrial age it is necessary for any country to be strong in energy sectors. Because without making reasonable achievements in energy sector any country can’t get success in any field. In this technology era where everything is to be made automated no one can breathe without moving forward in energy sector.

There has been enormous increase in demand of energy due to advancement in technology and industry. There is very fast increase in demand of energy as compare to supply of energy. So, due to this difference between supply and demand of energy causes energy crisis and it will be fatal for economy of any country. So, it is necessary that one country should have to increase its production of energy according to increase in demand of energy.

Pakistan’s Energy Sector:-
Pakistan is an underdeveloped country whose most of growing economy depends upon energy sector. So, it is very necessary for Pakistan to make extra-ordinary to steps to make its economy better. Pakistan’s total capacity of energy production is about 15000 Mega Watt. But to transmission line losses we can get only 11000-12000 Mega Watt .But Pakistan’s total demand of energy is 18000-20000 Mega Watt. So, we are facing total short fall of about 6000-7000 Mega Watt. Which is damaging our economy, industry and agriculture sector too.

Resources of Energy Production:-
In Pakistan we use both non-renewable and renewable resources for energy production. In non-renewable resources we majorly use fossil fuels like oil, gas for our energy production. Which includes round about more than sixty percent of total production. But this source of energy production is very costly. These are also hazardous for environment and humans both. Now world is leaving these type of energy resources and moving towards others which are good for environment. Unfortunately our government is using these sources of energy for further projects
In Pakistan another resource for energy production is hydro powers. And these include round about thirty seven percent of our total production. These type of resources are good for economy and environment both. Because dams are used for water storage which is vital for human life and they are environment friendly and not produce pollution like thermal powers. Hydropower projects are also economically, because energy produces by these resources are very cheap than produced by thermal powers.
Although we have larger scope in wind and solar sector, but our government is taking interest in these fields due to their personal interests.

Causes of Energy Crisis:-
Major cause of our energy crisis is growing demand of energy due to increasing industries. But our capacity of supply is decreasing day by day. There are many causes of this short fall, but few are given below.
o We are not developing new energy projects with increase of demand.
o Our line losses are increasing day by day due to bad management.
o Our transmission system is very old and can’t bear extra load beyond its capacity.
o In Pakistan corruption in energy sector is on peak. People even don’t pay their own energy bills.
o Our government can’t pay payments to independent power producers (IPPs).
o Our circular debt goes to peak every year and government has to take extra charges from people to pay debts to IPPs.

Effects on our Economy:-
As Pakistan is growing underdeveloped country. So, it is necessary for Pakistan to make extra-ordinary steps to speed up its growing economy. But due to this energy crisis Pakistan’s economy hurts very badly. It effects on every aspects of our economy. Few field which are affected due to these energy crisis are;

o Industrial Sector:-
As industry as a whole depends upon energy. So, it is necessary to be good in energy to grow in this sector. But due to this current energy crisis affects badly our industrial sector especially Cotton industry which contributes a lot to revenue in form of export. Now industrialists are rapping their businesses and moving towards neighboring countries due to this long sustaining short fall.
‘Pakistan Steel Mill’ which contributes a lot to our economy, now facing very high economic crisis due to poor management and energy crisis. So, it is an eye opening for our government to take forward steps in decreasing short falls.

o Agriculture Sector:-
Pakistan as being an agricultural country, it is very necessary to make favorable developments in this era. Now, due to technology advancement most of agriculture is moving towards technology based rather than old using methods. But in Pakistan due to energy crisis our farmer can’t use these new methods to increase their production and in this way it also affects our agriculture sectors.

o IT Sector:-
As current age is world of IT. In which everything is going to be automated and human intervention is decreasing in every field of life. But in Pakistan due to energy crisis we can’t achieve favorable success in this IT field. Due to this we are living in age of darkness and we considered as part of third world.

o Unemployment:-
Due to this energy crisis our unemployment rate is increasing. Because our every field of life like industry, IT and agriculture is affected due to prevailing energy crisis. Because industrialists are moving towards foreign due to this lasting energy crisis and leaving huge unemployment in our country. Government has not enough capacity to give jobs to these unemployed young people of Pakistan.

Recommendations:-
It is time of need that our government should have to take steps forward in energy production very quickly otherwise its results will be very drastic. Government should have to give importance to other resources like Wind and Solar. Because in Pakistan there is very huge scope for these resources. Pakistan’s coastal areas are very suitable for wind mills due to their constant flow of air. And our areas of Southern Punjab are very good for solar projects due to their temperature conditions.
It is very good news that Punjab government is taking steps forward to produce electricity through solar projects and Punjab chief Minister had also inaugurated a solar park in Bahawalpur of 100 Mega Watt. KPK government is also building large number of small dams which are very economically due to environment of KPK.

Conclusion:-
So, in order to keeps our name remaining on map of world we should have to make favorable steps to counter this energy crisis. Otherwise its results will be very drastic and it may collapse our economy. May Allah help us to fight with this problem and give us courage to defeat it (Amin).

Arrow Mismanagement is the biggest cause of energy crisis in our country

We can easily switch over to alternative energy production from renewables and contribute to going green, preserving our ecosystem and environment, cutting down extra expenditure on health hazards and recovery, destruction caused due to climate change and extreme weathers.

Although statistics indicate that the initial cost of installing and starting renewable energy production is higher, but long-term costs are cut down when we consider the extra costs we bear, as indicated in the above para.

Moreover, conventional energy sources are being abundantly used and their discovery is at a lower rate than their usage. This makes us believe that these resources will sooner or later expire and we will have to switch over to an alternative.

Therefore, renewable energy production is the need of the day.
