quotations, proverbs and maxims for essay writing.
Hello friends!
I am starting this new thread with an aim of gathering important proverbial sayings, quotations and maxims on a given specific topic at one place. Quoting effectively is important because the right quotation presented properly can add spice, interest, thought, effectiveness, support, and maturity to our writing. All of us already know that if proverbial sayings, quotations and maxims are inculcated into essay writing, it can beautify our arguments and make them strong. We will be choosing a topic, searching the relevant material on that and will finally post it here. Topic will be changed when we feel that sufficient material has been collected on it. All of the respected members of this forum are requested to take part in this effort. please note; essay writing is much more than just jotting down quotations, this is just one aspect of essay writing. e will be collecting material over here to save time. regards |

Woman
1) "Take my advice with regard to women : Act kindly towards women , for they were created from a rib, and the most crooked part of a rib is its uppermost . If you attempt to straighten it ; you will break it, and if you leave it alone it will remain crooked ; so act kindly toward women ".[Al-Bukhari and Muslim]. 2) No nation can ever be worthy of its existence that cannot take its women along with the men. No struggle can ever succeed without women participating side by side with men. There are two powers in the world; one is the sword and the other is the pen. There is a great competition and rivalry between the two. There is a third power stronger than both, that of the women. ~ Quaid-e-azam 3) “Women hold up half the sky.” — Chinese proverb 4) “To be beautiful means to be yourself. Within her is the power to create, nurture and transform.” — Diane Mariechild 9) “One of the most courageous things you can do is identify yourself, know who you are, what you believe in and where you want to go.” — Sheila Murray Bethel 10) “Woman must not accept; she must challenge. She must not be awed by that which has been built up around her; she must reverence that woman in her which struggles for expression.” — Margaret Sanger 11) “Courage is like a muscle. We strengthen it by use.” — Ruth Gordo 12) "It took me quite a long time to develop a voice, and now that I have it, I am not going to be silent." — Madeleine Albright 13) “It doesn’t matter who you are, or where you came from. Corruption
Check it out and let me know about it guys. I hope it will be useful.
“If a country is to be corruption free and become a nation of beautiful minds, I strongly feel there are three key societal members who can make a difference. They are the father, the mother and the teacher.” A. P. J. Abdul Kalam “I weep for the liberty of my country when I see at this early day of its successful experiment that corruption has been imputed to many members of the House of Representatives, and the rights of the people have been bartered for promises of office.” Andrew Jackson “Corruption, embezzlement, fraud, these are all characteristics which exist everywhere. It is regrettably the way human nature functions, whether we like it or not. What successful economies do is keep it to a minimum. No one has ever eliminated any of that stuff.” Alan Greenspan “Democracy must be built through open societies that share information. When there is information, there is enlightenment. When there is debate, there are solutions. When there is no sharing of power, no rule of law, no accountability, there is abuse, corruption, subjugation and indignation.” Atifete Jahjaga “Corruption is the enemy of development, and of good governance. It must be got rid of. Both the government and the people at large must come together to achieve this national objective.” Pratibha Patil “Corruption is a true enemy to development.” Tsakhiagiin Elbegdorj “Governments can no longer control 100 percent of the story. Time and geographical boundaries disappear. In places like China and all over the Middle East, social-media outlets are being used to expose and hold accountable public officials that don't want to be held accountable for corruption and human rights abuses.” Amy Jo Martin “Obscenity, which is ever blasphemy against the divine beauty in life, is a monster for which the corruption of society forever brings forth new food, which it devours in secret.” Percy Bysshe Shelley “Corruption is worse than prostitution. The latter might endanger the morals of an individual, the former invariably endangers the morals of the entire country.” Karl Kraus “A vibrant civil society can challenge those in power by documenting corruption or uncovering activities like the murder of political enemies. In democracies, this function is mostly performed by the media, NGOs or opposition parties.” Evgeny Morozov “I don't have my finger on the pulse of corruption in China, but I think most people on the ground would say that as China was emerging from communism, it was a very regulated society, and therefore, it was very corrupt. But as they have deregulated the economy, there just aren't as many opportunities for people to be corrupt.” Clayton Christensen “The duty of youth is to challenge corruption.” Kurt Cobain “Fighting corruption is not just good governance. It's self-defense. It's patriotism.” Joe Biden “Therefore, until the day I die, I am going to do what I can, regardless of the cost to me, to try to stop this awful corruption that is destroying our beloved democracy.” John Jay Hooker “If you look at great human civilizations, from the Roman Empire to the Soviet Union, you will see that most do not fail simply due to external threats but because of internal weakness, corruption, or a failure to manifest the values and ideals they espouse.” Cory Booker “There is no compromise when it comes to corruption. You have to fight it.” A. K. Antony “Is it a crime, to fight, for what is mine?” - Tupac Shakur ''And do not consume one another's wealth unjustly or send it [in bribery] to the rulers in order that [they might aid] you [to] consume a portion of the wealth of the people in sin, while you know [it is unlawful]'' ( chapter 2 , verse 188 , Quran ) ''And We will surely test you with something of fear and hunger and a loss of wealth and lives and fruits, but give good tidings to the patient,''(chapter 2 , verse 155 , Quran ) ''And it is He who has made you successors upon the earth and has raised some of you above others in degrees [of rank] that He may try you through what He has given you. Indeed, your Lord is swift in penalty; but indeed, He is Forgiving and Merciful.''(chapter 6 , verse 165 , Quran ) “The more corrupt the state, the more numerous the laws.” ― Tacitus, The Annals of Imperial Rome “Honesty, for me, is usually the worst policy imaginable.” ― Patricia Highsmith |

hardwork and success
HARDWORK and SUCCESS The price of success is hard work, dedication to the job at hand, and the determination that whether we win or lose, we have applied the best of ourselves to the task at hand. Vince Lombardi I learned the value of hard work by working hard. Margaret Mead Without hard work, nothing grows but weeds. Gordon B. Hinckley “It's hard to beat a person who never gives up.” ― Babe Ruth “If you try and lose then it isn't your fault. But if you don't try and we lose, then it's all your fault.” ― Orson Scott Card, Ender's Game “I'm a greater believer in luck, and I find the harder I work the more I have of it” ― Thomas Jefferson “There are no shortcuts to any place worth going.” ― Beverly Sills Much good work is lost for the lack of a little more. ~Edward H. Harriman God gives every bird its food, but He does not throw it into its nest. ~J.G. Holland He who would learn to fly one day must first learn to stand and walk and run and climb and dance; one cannot fly into flying. ~Friedrich Nietzsche Nobody ever drowned in his own sweat. ~Ann Landers "Let me tell you the secret that has led me to my goals: my strength lies solely in my tenacity." -- Louis Pasteur “Talent is cheaper than table salt. What separates the talented individual from the successful one is a lot of hard work.” – Stephen King “Nothing worth having comes easy.” – Theodore Roosevelt “The difference between the impossible and the possible lies in a person’s determination.” – Tommy Lasorda “The world belongs to the energetic.” – Ralph Waldo Emerson "Things may come to those who wait, but only the things left by those who hustle." --Abraham Lincoln
