How to turn your dull writing style into an excellent one..

When I was a college student, I used to seek English coaching from a well known teacher of my city.. One day, he asked us to write a paragraph on the topic ' Religion and Art'. We acted accordingly and got it checked. At the end of that exercise a 10th class student approached the teacher with his paragraph.. The teacher checked it and then asked me,"Read it carefully and compare it with your writing style." His expression was idiomatic and it forced me read it again and again.. First, I felt jealousy cum shame as we usually do. Next day, I asked him how he acquired the art of writing excellent English. He guided me.. His instructions help me improve my English within a couple of months. So, I am going to share it with you..

Always keep a pocket size diary and a pencil with you.. Wherever you read an impressive phrase, pen it down and memorize. Hindi movies with English Subtitles are the valuable source of such phrases.

4: cusp of opportunity
5: Drunk with power
6: at the mercy of
7: On the platter
8: Paint a rosy picture
