Default I have a serious problem. Anum zara, fawad shah, and other seniors.
I have a serious problem. I have written two essays. Each essay took a whole day. Whenever, I start writing, my mind stops working and I start thinking about sentences. Write and erase. I think I can not write an essay in three hours. How can I overcome this issue?

First of all this is normal. Even professional writers sometimes have this issue.

Try writing the same essay again the next day. I am sure when you write it the second time you can do it in 3 hours. Use it to gain some confidence as confidence is very important when writing.

I had similar issues some years ago but its all in the mind. You have to bring confidence in your writing and you can get over this. Do anything you can to gain confidence. Write an essay 10 times and when you can do it in 3 hours, do not think that it took you 10 attempts, just think that you achieved your target.

The best way to resolve this issue is to dedicate first 30-35 minutes to organizing and jotting down ideas and preparing a rough outline on the last page. In first 30-35 don't worry about whether you will be meet the set criteria of 2500 words or not, just calmly write a rough outline and organise your ideas. After that, prepare a fresh outline in the beginning of your essay and start writing. InshAllah, you will overcome the problem of your mind going blank.

Thankyou. Can you guide me how I improve my expression while writing continuously as one writes in exam? Actually, I often repeat similar structures.

By reading Dawn and if possible contemporary affairs by Imtiaz Shahid and practicing regularly, you will notice significant improvement. You don't have to be verbose and use flowery language. Using the simplest but relevant vocabulary should be good enough.

And what was your essay's length in both exams?

Yes, you can. Actually you won't really realise how much you have improved until you sit in exams under pressure situation. So, even if you feel you have not improved enough before exams, I am sure your thoughts would be different after appearing in exams. Even if you use the same expression you are using in forum posts, but your ideas are systematic, your essay coherent and your argument persuasive, I am sure you will pass essay.

My essay length was around 1700-2000 words in both attempts.

This is very sound advice. I have been reading Bertrand Russell and it is amazing how he talks in a simple manner. At some places it feels like he wrote the passage for children. People use flowery language thinking it will give a good impression but nothing gives a good impression better than a passage that is easy to read and coherent.

Reading is a great way to improve your writing. You might not notice the gradual changes it brings to your writing but it makes a huge difference.

Can you please guide me how did you control your nerves in essay and precise paper? And also during the preparation process.
