Democracy is a form of government in which power is vested in the people. As Abraham Lincoln said: Democracy is a government of the people, by the people, for the people. It focuses, as a principle, on Equality, Social Justice, Protection of Human Rights, Political and Economic Freedom, Public Participation in decision making, Rule of Law, Strong & Independent Institutions, Educated Citizenry, Equal opportunities for all, Developed sense of responsibility, and Effective accountability. But, in a country like Pakistan, There is more focus on Democratic Process i,e. Direct Voting, Establishment of Election Commission, Formation of the Government, Cabinet & the Opposition. As a result, we couldn't see a flourished democracy in Pakistan. Failure of democracy led to Hybrid Governance, Authoritarian style of administration, Dynastic Politics, Personality based Political Parties with less democratic norms, Dictatorial Regimes, Bureaucratic control of national resources, Feudal Culture, Weak Political Institutions, Centralization of Power, and Governance crisis. As a result, we could not reap the fruits of Democracy and people are facing multiple challenges of gigantic magnitude like Worse Socio-economic conditions, Backwardness, Tarnished national image, Human Rights violations, Militancy, and Poor Law & order situation. Democratic culture can evolve by Reforming Political Institutions, Imparting Political Education, Public Participation in Decision Making, Launching strong Local Government System, Strengthening Institutions, Ensuring Good Governance, and Launching an Impartial & Effective Accountability Mechanism.
