Default Education Woes: Critiquing on the dismal state of education in Pakistan

OUTLINES

1. Introduction
Education, a powerful agent of change, is grappling with multifarious pitfalls entailing lack of quality, ideological hurdles and other socio-economic shocks. Redressal of these issues require reversal of failures for the sake of uplifting society and economy of a country.

2. Deciphering constitutional provisions with regard to education and its hitherto implementation.

3. Exploring the dismal state of education
3.1 Meagre budgetary allocation
3.2 Stratification of three distinct system- Public, private and madrassahs following different curricula and teaching methods
3.3 Drop-out rates increasing exponentially
3.4 Incessant focus on rote learning rather than infusion of critical thinking
3.5 Higher education hell-bent on increasing educational institutes rather than improving quality of learning
3.6 Outdated curricula replete with with mistakes and stuffed with hate content
3.7 Gender-gap due to security and economic constraints

4. Why have attempts to reform the education so far failed to produce the desired result?
4.1. Amalgamation of traditional and modern learning methods
4.2. Varsities have turned into junk factories
4.3. Students keep on taking knowledge without utilising them critically
4.4. A mere focus on material gains by the students rather than pondering over character-building
4.5 Lagging behind 50 years in primary and and secondary education targets due to technological and scientific knowledge absenteeism
4.6 No critical assessment of pedagogical methods
4.7 Private or elite institutes have become money-grabbers

5. Learning to learn from failures: They way forward to rectifying the educational system
5.1 Re-orient the system by shrugging off ideological weapons
5.2 Impart same and inclusive curricula
5.3. A dire need to monitor educational institutes' adherence to educational policies
5.4. Create a well-functioning environment in line with modern standards
a. Introduction and prevalence of e-learning
b. Encourage student-teacher interaction and between peers
c. Improve teachers' selection mechanism
5.5 De-politicise the Higher Education Commission
5.6 Cut defence budget by only one percent and earmark it to provide broad-based internet access
5.7 Promote scientific learning and critical thinking
5.8 Encourage public-private partnership to fund improverished communities willing to render good education

6. Conclusion
Education lies at the heart of Pakistan's multiple challenges, which must be addressed promptly to reap dividends for the burgeoning population
