The future of Kashmir: A test for the global multilateralism and regional peace

“World powers needs to understand there is no way Kashmir dispute can settled once and for all except in harmony with people’s will” __ PM Imran Khan

Introduction:

• Multilateralism diplomacy has been the hall mark of International peace and security for seven decades since the founding of United Nations, but when communication breaks down within these relationships, the stakes, and the danger, are high.

Background:

• Kashmir history (How Kashmir became a part of UN resolutions)
• Pakistan’s stance on Kashmir issue (Historically)
• India’s stance on Kashmir issue (Historically)

Current Scenario:

• Situation of Kashmir after the abrogation of Article 370 and 35A (Indian atrocities)
• Pakistan’s strategic and diplomatic approaches to resolve Kashmir issue. (Till date)

Despite the violation of UN resolutions by Indian regime and Pakistan’s upstanding efforts to counter the matter at every platform, Kashmiri people are still hoping for their freedom. The International governance has need to step forward to resolve the Kashmir issue according to the promised UN Resolutions, to maintain peace and prosperity in the region.

Foist challenges on multilateral governance as a test :

• Granting right to self determination to the people of Kashmir as per UN Resolutions
• Policy making on the bases of documentation provided by the states
• Ensuring the world that global problems require global solution
• Restoring the unconstitutional revocation of Article 370 and 35A
• Moderating the hegemonic domination of India in Indian Illegal Occupied Kashmir (IIOK)
• Taking Pakistan and India in confidence to settle the Kashmir issue through dialogue
• Providing justice and the legal rights to the people of Kashmir

Future of Kashmir is dependent upon the multilateral governance, if it is not taken seriously, if multilateral governance is failed to tame the issue potentially, their consequences will be far beyond the borders

Future of Kashmir and its subsequent effects in region

• Kashmir issue could be the biggest threat to international peace and prosperity
• Kashmir is the flashpoint between two nuclear arm countries could trigger the war of mass destruction
• Genocide of innocent Kashmir’s could raise the militancy in the region
• Hatred among the people on the basis of religious ideology
• Instant climate change will be originated
• Human loss and economic recession

Suggestions:
Conclusion:

Very good attempt. You have almost touched all the areas that consume the Kashmir issue. However, being a fully rational person, what I think is the challenges you've articulated are actually suggestions, some of which are implausible. Restoration of article 370 and 35-a is a naive idea. It will never happen. Second, it is futile to make any hope regarding actions to be taken by the toothless-tiger 'UN', as the world has moved on and the kashmir issue is on the back-burner. Given the provisional provincial status given to GB, it can easily be understood that there is an unlikelihood of any self-determination status to the Kashmiri people, and Pakistan has tacitly acknowledged it by rendering GB a constitutional status. Nevertheless, Pakistan must keep on highlighting atrocious calamities being hurled on Kashmir at distinct forums diplomatically through its emissaries.

thank u Sikander. in my point of view, I think that there is no suggestion left to advice because the situation has gone beyond the limits, that is the reason, I wrote all the possible challenges for the Multilateralism, which are supposed to be write in suggestions. Article 370 and 35A comes under the violation of UN resolution, it can be reversed if UN considered it seriously and I know that UN has became a pointless forum to deal the issue but Kashmiri people don't have any legalized option left, except UN resolutions. and yes the move to make GB as provisional province is actually a more favorable and blessing for India to defend their actions earlier in IIOK.

This is why we were unsettled on the GB as a provincial status for so long despite GB people's willingness, and this is why we have moved the GB status now as we have tacitly acknowledged unlikelihood of any change in the status of Kashmir. But yes, UN is the only forum that could do to revise the conditions of Kashmir keeping in view its resolutions at place. But rationally, we can only highlight the situation at UN, OIC, SAARC or other different forums regardless of the actions from their side.
