Dear Brother, Your essay seems to be a good one. However, there is always room for improvment. One thing which I noticed that you did't mention the causes of this war; why Pakistan joined this war? There are, perhaps, some political, social and economic causes. Also the essay doesn't have any quotation of important stake holders in this war, there is no reference of Indo-US partnership like civilian nuclear deal which may have dire consequences for Pakistan. On the whole, very good effort.

[B]Why Pakistan joined GWOT:[/B]

Pakistan joined the war because he was forcefully made a party to it. After 9/11 attacks, then US president Bush telephoned former Pakistan president Pervaiz Musharraf and asked him to choose one of the two courses; either side with the US against this War or get ready to face the music. He left no third option for Pakistan. This is the worst kind of gesture of extremism the world has ever seen!

Also, during all military govts in Pakistan, there is a strong inflow of foreign aid. Massive amount of foreign aid came to pakistan during all previous military regimes. This was supposed to be utilized on development projects but acutually this money fulfilled the pockets of big-guns. Musharaff govt was no exception to it.

Supporting the US cause in GWOT may also have some political perspectives. Military govt sidelined US against GWOT because it perceived some political benefits; Musharaff regime wanted to prolong its illegal tenure etc.

Seen from the economic perspective, acclerating the economic growth was also a key factor. From 2002 to 2007, Pakistan economy accelerated at 7 % annualy. Pakistan by supporting GWOT won the support of international financial community and thus large cash inflows helped it gain this rate of GDP. But at the same time, when the global financial crisis hit the world, our stock market crashed and economy collapsed.

Summing up, Pakistan joined this war because of a strong moral, ethical international perssure. Had Pakistan not joined this war, it could have been declared a terrorist state.

Root cause of terrorism
 

I hav read this essay and according to me in the start thr shld b a refrenc towards this point who start the terrorism and who is responsible for it.Nodoubt today America is world power bt reality is this that American use the Alqaeda for its own causes in the histor and it is America who gav birth to it and now they are blaming us.We agree that today we r in the clutches of terrorism bt American is smhow greatly resposible for this terrorism.Now i don't know whether i m right or wrong its my opening that it should also mention.

Just to add few reasons why Pakistan joined War on Terror.

1- After the 99 coup, the attitude of the US was not friendly towards military regime. Clinton, the then president, visited India in 1999 for 2 days, but landed in Pakistan at Lahore Air Port for only half hour, and left without shaking hand with Musharraf- giving the signals of unapproval of military regime. Musharraf joined GWOT to gain US sympathy.
2- With the Collapse of banking system of Asian tigers in 1997-98, Pakistan had faced sever economic repercussions, as our most of the trade was carried out through these countries.
3- Pakistan's Nuclear tests of May 1998, also brought economic sanctions which further worsened the economic situation of the country. The country was going through toughest fiscal crises. So Pakistan joined GWOT for economic assistance.
4- When USSR left Afghanistan in 1991, Mujahideen, who were so far very much busy in fighting against a Super Power, immediately got free. They then moved towards other areas where Muslims were under suppression like Palestine, Bosnia, and Kashmir etc. Hence the threat for India to loose Kashmir was continuously increasing. When US came in Afghanistan, India did its best to prove the Kashmir Struggle as a similar act of terrorism and Pakistan a Terrorist State (Later on the fake attack on Mumbai Parliament was also a part of this plan). India eagerly extended full support to US. At that critical moment, had Pakistan not joined the GWOT she would have been sandwiched between two enemy states.
5- Kargil war brought a lot of world wrath on Pakistan. Pakistan joined GWOT to gain world sympathy, and to improve its reputation.
