Synopsis of English Essay Topics -I

1- Truth in Short Supply.

Truth is an abstract term. It alludes to different concepts in varying time and space. Never the less the mass communication theories of the media hype, diffusion of innovation, manufacture of consent, spiral of silence and message is the medium etc provide non exhaustive fuel to the essence of this essay. This essay required great manipulative skills and implied references.
Since I am a victim of Truth, attempted Search for Truth in 2005 and flunked css exam despite having decent aggregate marks, I did not opt to attempt it.

2- Liberalism

Liberalism is a/an : "political orientation that favors progress and reform
economic theory advocating free competition and a self
regulating market." courtesy ( TMA dictionary)
The topic is philosophical, political and economic in nature. Fearing the conservative FPSC I abstained from the topic.

3-Humor in Urdu literature

Unfortunately I am a greek to Urdu literature, hence I cannot comment on the topic.

4-Foreign Direct Investment in Pakistan

It is a macro-economic cum International political economy topic. The "dgp" of this regime: deregularization, globalization and privatization has attracted the attention of International financers. Moreover the Indian and Chinese success story of outsourcing lead the government to initiate a conducive environment for MNCs to operate in Pakistan.
Sustained economic growth, indirect taxation, strategic location and expected high rates of return followed by "trickle down effect" theory allowed a huge inflow of foreign investment in Pakistan. Energy and telecommunication sector received the greatest influx of foreign direct investment.
It is pertinent to clarify the difference between direct investment and indirect investment. Direct investment is done on a physical infrastructure that generates the cycle of economy. Indirect investment is done in share markets and security bonds. Direct investment is much better and preferred because it involves, mobilizes and creates job opportunities. It is also a long-term process. On the contrary the indirect investments are temporary and subject to the bullish trends of financial markets.
I thought of attempting this topic but the lack of actual figures restricted me to attempt it.

5- Personalization of Pakistani Politics

My stakes of becoming a public servant depend on this topic. This is how I conceived it :

1- December 16, 1971. Dismemberment of East Pakistan with the manifestation of "here I ,there you" . The personalization of self ad nauseum.
2-The departure of principles, rules and ethics in the corridors of Pakistani politics is a result of personality cult. The pathogen of I, me, myself leads to self-deceit of our civil and military politicians. This in turn leads to their self-destruction. Political instability, disrespect for the constitution, break down of civil administration are all the wages of this paradigm.
3- The edifice of our political parties is not based on values but on the impetus emanated by these demagogues.
4- These parasites resemble Louis XIV of France who is quoted to have said: “What is State, I am the state”! Similarly the reverberation of “I am indispensable for Pakistan” is dividing the nation on sectional lines.
5- I further furnished my topic with comparative examples, suggestions and the cherished vision of Quaid I Azam. My concluding sentences were :

“Pakistan First” and Pakistan Painda Bad”
( Implied for the irony)

Looking forward for a healthy discussion. Regards and best of luck.
