Dear Galaxy Queen!!

First be clear in your mind about the topics that you are going to prepare for essay.Make a list. After done with this, pick up one topic for preparation. Now ponder upon it and do some brain-storming regarding the topic.Note down all the points that come in your mind. All these points will ,naturally, be ur original approach towards the topic.

Having done with this u can rearrange your points in a logical order which will provide u with an outline. Here begins the research work.Do some browsing on internet regarding individual points of ur outline. This will provide u with necessary facts and figures. You can also read some related topics from current affair journals and publications to further enrich ur essay. Moreover, to facilitate urself u can cater to one topic each week.

Hopefully, ur confusions will somewhat be resolved.:)
Best of luck and do pray for me.
Regards.

Dear Galaxy Queen,

I think you are going directly for essay writing, which is not possibly for a new comer. Here you must write small paragraph first (seven to ten sentence) and discuss single point in each paragraph. Evaluate your paragraph, if it is not possible for you to judge what is missing, then put it on forum, seniors will guide you properly that what portion needs improvement. As time is short so write at least five paragraphs on daily basis with different topics. I have started the same practice few days ago and see now I am writing at least.

Best of luck.

The first thing you should do is read some essays and get an idea of what it is and how it works. Go through the forum and read the essay's people have submitted and then after your done with that go further down and read the comments that others have posted for the person on how to improve their essay and all the corrections they've made.

While doing that you can add your own thoughts to the essay, for example let's say your reading the essay on unemployment that was posted sometime ago, when your reading it ask yourself about the problems the person is discussing and try to offer solutions and facts.

If your gonna write an essay, lets say your practicing, the most important step in my view is, Research. You should thoroughly research the topic you are about to write on whatever that may be. Try to see if other have written about the same thing and then read that material as well which will also improve your knowledge about the topic. Sometimes you might even discover another interesting topic while your reading up for your current topic.

After doing your research you make your outline and then finally you write about it. I'm posting a link below to some essay tips you should check it out, its at the Essays Social group of the forum.

I was stuck with essay writing like a month ago as well.
How I copped with it.

I sat down to write an essay.
I didn't had the information.
That implies that during writing, I had many confusions and questions.
Noted down all those confusions and questions.
And then searched for answers to those confusions and questions.
And that systematically lead me to write a normal sized essay.

This is my strategy. Feel free to suggest better strategies. :)

whatever you have in mind, just start joting down on the paper. Write till the last word of information of the particular topic. No matter, you are able to write two or three pages. later on, get it checked.
In starting, forget about selection of words and write some point in bullets which u gona write.

Let me share my experience for all you people. I sat in the CSS 2010 exam, and did well in all, excpet for islmaiat, which i failed.

Got 46 marks in essay, the big hurdle. And honestly telling you did not do any real preparation for the essay. The very first 3000 words essay that i wrote was in the exam hall, and that is true.

I am no expert at this but let me share my views with you. Essay had no such syllabus, so you cannot say that you can prepare the essay as such. Yes, you can prepare some topics, but no guarantee any of that topic, or anything near those topics, will come in the exam. So, its all luck when it come to preparing a topic.
The preparation of essay can help you overcome some issues, and develop some skills that will help you during the exam time.

First, you can develop a timing strategy by doing some writing practice. You will be bale to know, whats your writing speed in a long duration. This is important, as writing a page or so, and writing abt 20 pages, and that under stress, are two different things.

Secondly, you will be able to pin point some major grammatical mistake, which have somehow become inherent in your writing. By writing something, and have it checked by anyone, even your self, you will be in a good position to figure out soem such mistakes that you do unconsciously. Now this may make a major difference.

Thirdly, you will develop the skill of collecting the knowledge in your mind, and using it to present a piece of writing as asked by the examiner. Now this is the hardest bit. One can have alot of information, but what matters is how quick you can develop a clear strategy as to what information to use and how to present it.

The above mentioned things have nothing to do with any large repository of information for writing the essay. So, in my opinion the beginners need to start practicing the skill of writing. I would suggest that donot get into huge researches first, rather, just take a topic off your head and write like 3 pages over it. Start doing like this for 4-5 days. Keep increasing your writing on daily basis. Once you have reached the level of writing abt 8-10 pages, now jot down some topics, do some research over them, and then write long essay on them.
