Dilemma about thesis statement.

Thesis statement is what that is called the gist of whole idea in on single sentence. well, I have heard that thesis statement should be written at the end of introductory para of essay. At the same time i am also advised to have the thesis statement of each para of the essay.
Well seniors! plz guide me about writing thesis statement as it is an art. Moreover I am looking for answer of my query that is whether for each para there should be a thesis statement ? I am confused

Each and every sentence of introduction is worthy.
Introductory paragraph itself is a gist of what to expect from the essay written below.
There is a high probability that most examiners will decide in their minds the destiny of the essay after they read introduction.
Writing a gist of the gist is something that will take at least a year of practice itself.
So rather than concentrating on writing a thesis statement for the introduction, concentrate more on writing an impressive introductory paragraph.

Thesis statement for other paragraphs can be done rather easily and it is a good practice if you can do that. But this practice alone cannot give you good marks. There must be proper English language usage, proper sentence structure, proper usage of vocabulary, an impressive style of writing that captures the examiner, depiction of the relevant knowledge regarding the topic, logical arrangement and argumentation. All these factors count to make an excellent essay.

There isn't any single method.
Every good author has his/her own experience, observation and way of expressing.
For instance if I was to write a thesis statement for a paragraph, I will first think what the paragraph will be consisting of? I will take out the key ideas of the paragraph and use them in my thesis statement. A simple example due to paucity of time is as follows.

1) Thesis statement: War against Terrorism is proving to be a curse that has completely shattered Pakistan's economy and pushed the nation 50 years back.
(This sentence gives a whole idea to the reader that I'll be talking about Terrorism, it's negative impacts on Pakistan's economy and the nation as a whole)

2) The paragraph: So now my paragraph must contain the relevant material related to war against terrorism, Pakistan's role in it, how it is affecting Pakistan's economy negatively, how the nation is being pushed back and where at the moment our nation is standing?

I have read some where that thesis statement should be at the end of para while my mind is clicking that it should be at the start of new para. what do u think it should be at the end of para or at the start? sorry i m bothering u again and again but i have some problem with logical construction of essay. as it is the most challanging paper so one should not leave any stone unturn.

I've never heard of a thesis statement at the end of a paragraph.
I would say that there is a conclusion at the end of a paragraph but you cannot conclude every paragraph in an essay because every paragraph is linked to the next one. If you conclude every paragraph then it becomes really difficult to link it with the upcoming paragraph. Only experts know how to use conclusion of the last paragraph and link it to the new paragraph they are about to start. This is why it is advised to take your time to make an outline first. When you make an outline, you decide what you will write and how you will organize the material and link it to each other.

Overall every step in good essay writing is vital. You miss one step and the quality of your essay is doomed.

well, u are right and the same thing made me confuse. If we have to write the thesis statement at teh end of the para then it is impossible to link previous para to the next.... but i have read it that thesis statement should be at the end of para. I think so i have consulted a u tube video on writing essay but that showed that thesis statement is of introduction. let me saerch that video again if i will able to post here i will.

Actually I think I couldn't convey my message properly.
Thesis statement of course is a part of the introduction.
And introduction tells what the reader should expect in the complete essay.

Now talking about paragraph, each paragraph starts with a topic sentence. I think this is the part where I couldn't convey it properly and mingled it with thesis sentence. So a paragraph starting with a topic sentence, contains the body of the paragraph and then finally concluding sentences for the paragraph.

The concluding sentences, you cannot conclude each and every paragraph in an essay because you don't want to close the discussion and want to link it to the upcoming paragraphs. In my opinion you are likely to close everything in the conclusion paragraph of an essay.

yes this is the thing:vic it means there is no need to go for thesis statement for each of para but it is introducory sentence from which each of para takes start :)) and each of para should end at the sentence which gives an opening to next para. It means there must be coordination between ending sentence of previous para and first sentence of next para. Am i right??
