Technical Question about Paragraph Linkage in Essay!
 

Hi there, I have a technical query about the linking of two paragraphs in an essay.

We all know that having connectivity in any two consecutive paragraphs is important, but does this rule apply to the whole of essay including the introduction and Final paragraphs as well?
e.g there is an essay on "Education" and after the introductory paragraph, I want to have a paragraph to define and elucidate the term "education", do I need to connect the introduction to the following paragraph as well? or can I keep the introduction separate and start a completely new paragraph?

Same goes for the Ending paragraph, do I need to keep it connected to the previous paragraph, or being the summarizing and final paragraph we can keep it as separate and non-connected?

Secondly, I have a specific case related to the same paragraph linking and I would like to ask about it as well. Kindly check the example below, where there is end of one paragraph and start of another, kindly see and let me know if these two paragraph would be considered as connected paragraphs?

"...but before we jump into the educational conditions of Pakistan, we need to define the term 'education' for a better understanding.
Education, means blah blah blah...."

Dear when we go to next paragraph we leave a "transitional signal" either at the end of the last para or at the start of the next one...
This transition signal makes it easy for reader to connect the ideas.
i think you are talking about introduction in your example, it is amply connected but you must put the signal at the end of para, or at the start of next one.....you cannot tell the reader in first line of first para that what is going to be included in next one...

sorry guys for late reply as i was away so couldn't reply right away...
now listen up, have a look at following outline and my sentences...underlined sentences are the transition signals.

1:Reasons of energy crisis
a) under usage of thermal sources
b) poor infrastructure
2:solutions
a) increase capacity of thermal sources
b) Build more water reservoirs

There are many reasons of ongoing energy crisis[/U], here we will talk about the ones that are more pinching than the others.

[U]The first reason[/U] is under usage of thermal sources. we are not utilizing our thermal assets to their full extent, this is just the tip of the ice burg, the infrastructure is also not up to the park which causes line losses, [U]this is the next very reason[/U].

The old distribution lines and all other infrastructure is also the culprit for that acute shortage of energy.

Having discussed the factors responsible for the ongoing energy crisis[/U], now we have a look at the solutions.

First solution[/U] lies in the very first reason, we have to use our available thermal resources optimally. Thar coal reserves must be taped to produce electricity and gas.

[U]The other solution[/U] is no just a solution for energy crisis, it is also the need of the hour. we have to build more dams to store the water. it will give us more energy as well as protection from floods.
