Image of Islam in the Western world and responsibilities of the Muslim Ummah
Introduction
Islam is a religion of violence. This is the most malicious misconception of Islam in the West. The image of Islam in the Western world is plagued with such misconceptions. The Western people also think that Islam oppresses women; that Islam was spread through force and that Muslims hate people other religions. They, moreover, believe that Islam encourages all Muslims to have four wives and slaves. Muslims, in their view, hate all modernity and oppose science. The Western people believe every act of every Muslims is a reflection of Islamic teachings. Therefore, for all these misconceptions, the Muslim Ummah is responsible. The economic malaise, social divisions, religious extremism and educational backwardness of the Muslim world has corroborated Western misconceptions of Islam. It is, therefore, obligatory for all Muslims to correct these images by preaching and practicing the original Islam. The Ummah will have to harness its media, ulema and scholars to address these misconceptions to reduce Western enmity for Islam.

Introduction
Pakistan’s war on terrorism, an offshoot of American war on terrorism in Afghanistan, was waged because the terrorists posed damage to our country and threat to our nation. This war has led to fear in our minds, distortion of our religion and pessimism in our people. It has debilitated democracy in the country and reduced our foreign policy options. Our people, due to this war, are suspected abroad. The war has polarized them. Moreover, this war has ravaged our schools, hotels and marketplaces. It has chased away the tourists and deterred the foreign investors. Finally, it has reduced the capability of our government to solve other problems of the country.

Introduction
A king or a serf, both are born in complete equality. After death, the king is laid in a mausoleum and the serf in the local cemetery. This inequality is universal. Birthrights of life, liberty and honor are the same for all. However, not all people enjoy these rights. The rights are made subject to the shackles of gender, color, caste, creed, age, sect, province, nationality and other distinctions. The equality given at birth is transmogrified into inequality and inequity through these conditions of life. This is the case every where. East or West, modernity or antiquity each recognizes these discriminations. Nearly half of humanity has been oppressed because of gender. The black had to suffer in America and South Africa due to their color. In many other ways, therefore, humanity is enslaved.
