How Word Count in Essay & precis is made ???

Some say articles & prepositions are also counted separately as each word , what is right answer in both cases ?????

Waiting for seniors kind guidance !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

If the paragraph of the precis contains 300words, the precis should contain 1/3rd of it, means 100. As far as Essay is concerned, so generally aspirants complete Essay with 2000, 2200, 2400words. But the quantity matters in Essay less than quality.

thanks for your reply .... but my question is for word count do we also add up articles & prepositions separately (like words) or skip them & only meaningful words are counted for example:

Kindly Make Word Count of these lines ...........

Foods made with whole grains, such as whole-wheat bread and brown rice, are sources of filling fiber (aiding weight loss, which can reduce your diabetes risk) and nutrients such as potassium, which helps the pancreas release ......

So the colored items be counted in 'word count' for a essay or a precis or they should be skipped ??????????????????????????

when you are going to count the words of precis or essay you should count all words including prepositions and articles.Actually it is always a rough estimate.Hundred percent accurate calculation is neither possible nor needed in limited time available for attempting paper...

I heard that words consisting of more than two letters are included in word count

Word count in precis is insane.
A correct precis is always 1/3 of the original passage
