DOMESTIC VIOLENCE IN PAKISTAN OUTLINES:- 1) INTRODUCTION 2) VIOLENCE 3) DOMESTIC VIOLENCE 4) PRESENT SCENARIO OF DOMESTIC VIOLENCE IN PAKISTAN 5) CAUSES OF DOMESTIC VIOLENCE IN PAKISTAN i) SOCIAL CAUSES a)Illiteracy b) Defined role of both sexes in society. c)Accepted dominant role of men in society d) considering family as private sphere and under male control. ii) ECONOMIC CAUSES a) Limited access to employment in formal and informal sector b) Women,s economic dependence on men c) Limited access to cash and credit d) Discriminatory laws regarding inheritance and property rights e) Limited access to training programs iii) RELIGIOUS CAUSES a) Misinterpretation of Islam b) Narrow minded religious approaches iv) POLITICAL CAUSES a) Under representation of women in power,politics, bureaucracy media and technical professions b) Domestic violence not taken seriously c) Notion of family being private is beyond control of state d) Risk of challenges to status quo/ religious laws. 6) EFFECTS OF DOMESTIC VIOLENCE i) Tarnished international image ii) Negative impact on future generations iii) Poverty in society 7) Solutions i) Education ii) Women should be financially empowered iii) Religious leaders should play their role in bringing awareness among masses about women rights iv) International and national organizations should play their role. 8) CONCLUSION |
