Attemptation of generally asked topic as Essay

I have a Question,if in an Essay paper,A topic is being asked as general e.g if an Essay is given like energy crisis without the nomination of Pakistan in it.what should one write if he/she only knows the energy crisis of Pakistan and not of the whole world?

I have naive on your innocence. How could you say that you don't know the energy crisis of the whole world? Don't you read DAWN thoroughly and current affairs? What I believe is that being a css aspirant, we should be jack of all trades and as a matter of fact, we are supposed to be well-aware of everything as much as we can. I asked the same question and my sir told me that a general topic should be dealt with generalised viewpoint but for a reference we can quote Pakistan's example.

Stay blessed.

ok but my question is still there, what we have to actually write, when the topic is general.suppose i ask you to write on ELECTORAL REFORMS;WHAT WOULD YOU WRITE??IF I HAVE NOT MENTIONED PAKISTAN THERE???

Well, taking the generalised viewpoint, one should discuss its brief history, why is there a need for such reforms, voting systems in such reforms (electronic, bio-metric etc), advantages and problems if it isn't made. So far examples are concerned, you can generally discuss what kind of electoral reforms made in India, US, UK etc and before concluding, you can quote Pakistan's example precisely to give the examiner an impression that you know what is going on in your own country.

It is kind of as same as "meaning and purpose of education". So rather talking about types of education, we should discuss what actually education gives you. What I am trying to say is that if any general topic comes then don't limit yourself to just Pakistan. Talk about as a whole. Examples come later first of all one should hit the bull's eye.

Like if the topic would be "ELECTORAL REFORMS in Pakistan" then you are supposed to go with the same way as told above (as far as I know you may disagree), just omit rest countries' example and discuss "why is there a need for such reforms in Pakistan" after describing reforms' kind and discuss the prevailing chaos in the country deprived of such reforms. Before conclusion you can compare Pakistan with any other country like US, UK etc to show how such reforms brought prosperity and fairness in that country. I think you got my point. :)

Stay blessed and good luck.
