That is how i comprehended it,though I am unable to recall the exact outline but it was more or less like the same as below:

What is a digital technology
How human identities emerged
Humanity: the only Identiy at the time of Adam and Eve
Religious identity: with the advent of religions
Geographical identity:with the Expansion of human population
Technological identity: with advancement of digital technology
Petty identities: Cultural,Social and Moral identities

Identities and 21st century
Age of technological advancement
Rise of technological Identity
how technology has altered identities
East vs.West identity conflict
Insight of 18,19th century
Identity in 20th century

Digital technology and Identity
Age of machines: Examples from everyday life
clash of identities: how machines are ruling humans
Fear of man: Extinction of human race via technology
Depiction of Fear in movies
Man is returning back to its original identity:Humanity

Conclusion

you have made a blunder. it was 'rise of digital technologies', and you have had a retrospective look of religious era. you should have stuck to 21st century

Well, the question was about changing identities by digital technologies and we know the era of digital innovation began with 21 st century but what about identity? Were we without any identity before the rise of technological era?certainly not,so i considered this aspect also,I have no idea how the examiner will take it but in my paragraphs I have made it clear.
