My 2nd Q.: Is feminism an issue. I think it is not an issue but a movement, a campaign, for the equal rights of women which is categorically a good thing. its the concept of women empowerment thus how it can be an issue??

Any other member may also share his stance.

Ans of Q1. It's own stance of aspirants that whether to go with the topic or against it. And whatever you are going to do, mention that in your thesis statement.

And of Q2. You cannot debate with the paper setter about the words or phrases used in topic that it should be like this or not like this. The only thing you can debate on is either to go with the topic or against it.

Ok, regarding my question 1, I understand we are supposed to justify from our each para and even every line and argument that our thesis statement is justified.

But for Q2, my ambiguity remains prevalent. Ok in this essay, can you say "Empowering the women by giving them equal rights is an issue? "

Regards

I don't know how you are taking the word 'issue'. Well if you think that it just means 'problem' then I would say no. It not only means problem but also "a question, a subject or a matter to discuss'.

I hope it will help

Whatever the topic statement is, either in negative form or in positive form, when you go in favour of the topic statement it means you are supporting it. Like you will write and prove that 'Feminism is not really a third world issue". And if you go against the topic you will convert it in opposite statement like Sir Bilal did by writing that "Feminism is largely a third world issue".

1: Introduction

a) Meaning of Nationalism: Inclusive and Exclusive
b) Reference of Asabia and Ibn e Khaldun's Views

c) Thesis Statement: Nationalism cannot be Inclusive.

2. Examples of Non-Inclusiveness of Nationalism

a) Apartheid: White and Black divide in South Africa
b) Socio-Economic backwardness of Blacks based on Racial Segregation in the US
c) Persecution of Rohingya minority in Myanmar
d) Indian claim on Kashmir yet non inclusiveness of Kashmiris in general Muslims in particular

3: Why Nationalism cannot be Inclusive?

a) Economics and Financial gains rule the roost: Xenophobic Americans
b) Human nature is selfish so deprives the minorities
c) Electoral system of democracy itself excludes the minority
d) Nationalism to the extent of madness is detrimental to inclusiveness: German and Pan Arabism
e) Cultural contradictions promote exclusive nationalism
f) Geographic barriers

4. Conclusion

a) Nationalism cannot be inclusive
b) Racial, cultural, religious and socio-economic differences impede inclusiveness
Assalamualaikum sir,
My outline was pretty much similar to the one you've posted but I added a section about minorities in the beginning, to address the first part of the statement, do you think I'll make it? Or will they penalize me for that?

@Sir Bilal Hassan

The intellectual exercise of sharing outlines of Essay is very much helpful. Can you please broaden your guidance sphere, and share a solved example of Precis, and a Composition question. It will be so generous of you to do that.

Default Thesis Statement

Little Brown's p-201 explaining THESIS STATEMENT says that a thesis statement should be clearly justifying what you claim.

In that sense, to say, for instance, "Feminism is largely a third world issue" does not justify the very question how? where to justify a claim must be an integral part of a thesis statement. These thesis statements you made above, thus, can be topic of essays but in no means thesis statements.

Please clarify.
Regards
