Default Essay Length (First Time Aspirant)

Hi guys! I just have a very basic question. I'm not sure if it's something to worry about, but since CSS 2020 will be my first attempt at the exam, I just thought I should ask from senior members here.

Is an essay length of 1400-1800 words decent enough, or will I be at a disadvantage if I write less than 2500 words?

In my practice essays, I am not able to drag the world length beyond the 1800 mark. Although an essay can be stretched, but I want to avoid redundancy, and hence fear my essay quality and structure will hamper as a result if I tend to drag it by purpose.

Would be really thankful if any senior folks can shed some light on this.

Thanks in advance!

Quality of Essay matters but in past examiners' reports issue of required words was also raised. So, better stick to the requirement.
