Iqbal & Society

IQBAL AND SOCIETY
(forgive others and consider all equal.

Once someone asked to Allam Iqbal "what do you think is a difference between "Europeans" and "the Musilms of the sub continent"? he replied " I find the muslims here but Islam there".
While strolling in the streets of Spain, Iqbal might not have found bearded men and veiled women but he might found civility encompassing politeness, smiling faces and mutual respect. in the same vein, Iqbal might have found honesty in dealing practiced by the spanish in daily affairs, besides fraternity for each. Almost same is the picture project by Medina during the age of Prophet Mohammad (Peace be upon him).
I am not comparing the two societies but somehow linking them to learn the kind of Islam Iqbal found in Spain. We know very well about the fraternity and love of "Ansaar ( the citizens of Medina)" and Muhajirin (the migrants). In just one example where Hazrat Abdu-Rehman Bin Auf who was migrant was offered by a very rich Sahabi from Ansaar named Hazrat Saa'd bin Arr Rabbi to have half of his vast wealth and one of his beloved wife, the offer which Hazrat Abdu Rehman (RA) turned down with due respect and courtesy. The examples of love left by our elders were high in morals.
Our prophet (PBUH) taught us to give at least a smile to yuor brother as a gift. He was the one who called on the lady (to nurse her) who used to throw garbage on him, after having found her abandoning the practice. His cousin Hazrat Ali (RS) was the one who spared the man (and did not kill him) who spitted on his face while combating, saying that now it would get personal and not for the sake of religion.
Our elders used to practice high morals of forgiving, letting for, loving, caring, courteous, honesty.... and if not that all...patience with one another. All those things which, may be in small proportion, you can find in those societies. why in small proportion, the reason is they used to do that for God's sake... and in this age Man does that for being a good citizen. The vision and perspective have undergone a lot of change. Man is now more blinded by ego or narcissism that in the past.

May be now the worked is far more selfish, than in Iqbal's time! In those days, Iqbal must have found love and care in Europe which he would have missed in the Sub_Continent. Neither are all of us bad, nor are all of them good. The question is why we do not find honesty, love, and forgiveness in our society. May be we have conceived in our minds that our elders were morally super-humans and we cannot even imitate them. Further, we might have ceased to live for our God. we live for our own selves.

The only pride we find in living in today's era is that we are the Muslims. We must start forgiving othes and considering all equal.

I often used to go through the illusion that "the keen reason of economic instability, turmoil, explosions, frustration in nation particularly in youth is only the lack of incompetent leadership":?
But i opine that primary obstacle which is hindered in the way of prosperity is our SELFISH, DISLOYAL, RUDE and MERCILESS BEHAVIOR :sad as i perceived from above phrases...
