Smile Status quo in Pakistan

Status quo in Pakistan:
Status quo, commonly used form of the original Latin "status quo" literally "the state in which" is a Latin term meaning the current or existing state of affairs. To maintain the status quo is to keep the things the way they presently are or to maintain the existing social order.

Origin of status quo:
Origin of status quo is found in Latin
First Known Use: 1807
Synonyms: normalcy, normality, circumstances, existing conditions, how things stand, no change, parameters, present state of affairs,

Antonyms: abnormality

According to dictionary meanings status quo is “the existing condition and state of affairs especially regarding social or political issues, they have a vested interest in maintaining the status quo”

For example:
In Iran there is a religious dominancy. I will say about pardha system. Majority of ladies use Pardha. So if some says that pardha system should be finish from this. No one is allowed to do pardha I want to change this system, I want to change the existing status quo. So it means that he is violating the existing status quo. So the existing status quo is Religion dominancy and laws and legislation or jurisprudence and there is the influence of Islamic Law. So this is s the status quo of Iran.
And if someone try or another ruling party or Bureaucrats to change the existing affairs existing situation then new status quo will be made. But it is very difficult to bring radical change.
As the things change, the more things remains the equal. A period of time there is some reality to this declaration, commonly more things work in a way that allows for small change. Mostly persons favor the existing status quo because they don’t like to take danger. They feel easy with the status quo, or the existing current status.
Scaring basic change, many people favor to keep in the current situation, even if that current situation is not so desirable and enjoyable. They consider even little than advantageous condition to be better than the unknown. In other words, change is not required for progress. This is known as status quo bias.

Now I will discuss status quo bias which I have taken it from an article. actually the status quo bias is a cognitive bias cognition means the mental act or process by which knowledge is acquired or processed which leads people to select that things remain the equal or same, or that things change as small as possible, if they precisely must be change. This bias plays a vital role in many fields, including economics, political science, sociology, social work, anthropology and psychology, and in many other disciplines have been conducted on the status quo bias to see at ways in which this bias pull human activity and behavior. By awareness of the role that the status quo bias plays in their own lives, human can take steps to lower the power of this bias on their decision and conclusion making.
Many other cognitive biases play into the status quo bias, containing the idea or notion of loss detestation (great dislike). Mostly people prioritize escape the possibilities for loss over follow the possibility to obtain. In simple words, as a common rule people are traditional in appearance and conservative types because that people do not desire to lose the gains which they have made. As a result, they may inspect try or seek to get ahead as potentially danger. In many studies and disciplines, when presented with most important similar positions, subjects tend to select the conclusion and determination which is little likely to produce a loss and failure.
This cognitive bias absolutely plays a great role in decision making, because under the status quo bias, people will make the option which bring change a little bit.

The status quo bias can also play a good role in daily life; like many people eat and drink the same thing for breakfast, lunch, dinner etc, day by day for example, or walk or run to work in absolutely the same routines or regular design, without changeable amount. The lack of power to be flexible can cause people to become frustrated or anxious when a circumstance forces them to make an option, and it may shut their eyes to possible auspicious or favorable circumstances.
In economics, the status quo bias make clear why mostly people make very not too high financial options, like keeping their deposits at one bank even when they are tendered a better rate of interest by a bank which is necessary the same in all other respects. The strong wish to hold things the same can cause people to lose out by making conservative conclusion. The status quo bias can also play a good role in the marketing world, as business firm have educate to their uncomfortable or disappointment when they radically redesign packaging of popular products.
While the status quo bias can serve a convince amount of self-protection by arousing feelings of hope or courage people to make secure choices and options, it can also become emotionally disabled, by preventing someone from making more risky choices. Like other cognitive biases, this bias can be so hard to detect that people are not aware of it, making it hard to break out of set patterns.

The status quo is easily identified in the kingdom of politics. In a democracy, people will mostly continue electing the same leaders, despite annoyance, more willingly than vote for an unknown quantity. A politician who is an “outsider,” even though many people say that’s what they want, what they need, tends to be met with distrust. One who does not enjoy name mention is generally also seen as suspect and believe.
I think not all change is bad, profound or radical change generally can establish firmly in someone’s mind but slowly in someone’s mind or feelings fear or anxiety about future events. This is especially reality about cultural changes, such as redefining marriage or banning a procedure such as incomplete birth abortion. When an issue has been addressed under an accepted standard throughout recent history, even if unenthusiastic, many people will be observant and guarded when it comes to making sudden or speedy changes in that policy.

In some cases, a move away from the status quo will be temporary. Such is the case with Military Operation in Dir lower. The operation was for limited time to clean Taliban and arrests them to bring peace in the Area. Before the entrance of Taliban there was peaceful environment in Dir lower but as they came everything got disturb and they were creating their own status quo. They were trying to change the existing status quo. Taliban were challenging the status quo of Dir lower. Everywhere they fitted bombs in Hair dressers shops, CD shops, they created their own check posts to check the Cars, if they found the tape recorder of CD players in car they were snatching that tape and sometime they beat that person. They said that every lady should be in full pardha and female education was banned etc so to remove Taliban and bring peace in the area Military operation get started. They shifted people of the local aria to safe place and they were called the internally displaced persons (IDPs) Army was assuring the people that things will go back to the way they were. they said that the situation will revert to the accepted state of affairs and now Masha ALLAH the situation is change there is peace, so the status quo of Taliban was temporary and the Army came here for limited time to get their goal they just came to remove Taliban and they get succeeded and now again there is peace.

Status quo is also a concept used in some agreements. A promise to support the existing status of affairs may be demand before another party will become a signatory. An example is in agreeing to a ceasefire. Peace must continue, hostilities must not resume, if one party expects the other to fulfill its obligations. Retaining the status quo is required if the parties hope to enjoy the benefits provided by the agreement.

Examples of status quo:
 The concept o Status quo is also used in some type of agreements. Like agreement to a ceasefire or temporary suspension of hostilities, keeping of peace and conflict, hold the status quo is needed if parties hope to enjoy and pleasure the benefits provided by the agreement.
 The social movement is example of the status quo. This term is related to the status of large issues. For instance any present cultural and social situation of the society or nation or region.
 The persons engaged with party politics also relate to a status quo. Even though there is a set of principles of said uncertainty, rather than making proper status. Clark Kerr said, "That the status quo is the only way of solution that cannot be rejected or cancel something enacted by another" meaning that the status quo cannot simply be decided against; action must be taken if it is to change.
 Status quo can also be used to assistance the situation that stakeholders who holds money that find common undesirable and unfavorable but the result of any change to it may be dangerous but at the same period they know that change will come and may be one of two or more possibilities emerge with the time.
 municipal leaders who feel fear to do anything that might change the town's status quo.
Role of status quo in peace and conflict:
According to some analysts, the most important challenge now a days Pakistan is facing, the crisis related to conscience and integrity of the ruling elite, civilian and military, and their entire aim is to present and empower their self rather than serving the people whom actually empower them at the positions they are.
The peace making principle:
We can make peace and remove conflicts by balancing powers between the each class. And this balancing of powers can be done in following steps.
• We should clarify and analyze the conflict situation
• Define your interest clearly so that ambiguity should be removed
• Invoke overriding interests
• Put more focus on exchange programs
• More Emphasize on the legitimacy.
• Keep issue and power proportional, all type of differences should be removed
• Show your commitment.
• Always resist the aggression.

Pakistan and China Relationship: A Fraying Friendship?

There is an old Chinese proverb that says to attract good fortune, spend a new penny on an old friend. Pakistan and china had very good relations since they came on world map. Every PM and President was welcome to visit china. Recently an old friend was welcome to visit China. Pakistan's President Asif Zardari made his second visit to China in four months for meetings with senior political and business leaders. China is always willing to invest in Pakistan, it’s just because to empower Pakistan and maintained the status quo.
China stood with Pakistan against India. Ties between the these two countries was date back to 1950 after Pakistan joined a small handful of nations in recognizing the communist People's Republic of China.
Pakistan and Baharat status quo:

Baharat and Pakistan both had many things common like some aspects of culture and language. People of both countries can understand each other language. Which can remove many difference and remaining difference should be removed by the politicians, and for this both President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Man Mohan Singh should send messages of goodwill to the Hind-Pak Dosti Manch is a welcome development. The Munch is engaged in to improve relations between the two countries. This was the 17th year for its members from the munch and SAFMA in Pakistan to light candles at midnight on August 14-15, when the two countries were born, on the Attari-Wagah border. The present democratic government and the people wish to see peace and cooperation flourish in the subcontinent. We are committed to it and hope that soon both countries will enjoy peaceful relations and remove all fights and disputes through a support and effective dialogue. No doubt there are many issues between these two countries like issue of Kashmir, issue of Siachen, issues related to trade, issues of rivers. For solution of these problems. The Institute of Peace and Conflict Studies organized a two and a half day Baharat and Pakistan dialogue on Conflict Resolution and Peace Building in Bangkok from 5‐7 October 2009.The aim was to put the perspectives of both countries in front of them to get a suitable solution.

Good will status quo:
Pakistan arrested 33 Indian fishermen, who crossed the Pakistani border and weeks after this incident, it was announced by Pakistan, the release of all jailed Indian fishermen as a goodwill gesture.

Kashmir issue:
We hope soon Kashmir issue will also be resolve and Kashmir people will enjoy their freedom. But this issues should only be solved through peaceful dialogues instead of aggression.

National Student Exchange programs:
The National Student Exchange Program enables students visit to different states, regional, provincial, and cultural borders through study. These programs really help to understand the all aspects of culture of the country they visit. Nearly 200 colleges and universities participate in the National Student Exchange, making it easy for students to find locations, courses, facilities, and environments to meet their academic needs and personal interests and to understand each other. Students are motivated to participate in the National Student Exchange for a variety of reasons. National Student Exchange programs are working between many countries like many student visited USA, lived there, increase their status quo. similarly many students from USA, India also visited through student exchange programs to study the aspects of Pakistani culture. This program helps to fulfill the desire to go beyond the status-quo.it is a great advantage for youth and if this status quo remains the same soon we will achieve the goal of developed country
Offering of scholarships:
Pakistan is offering different study scholar ships even in its hard time so that students may move abroad to get higher education an standards more better, so that status quo should increase.
Youth development programs:
Different youth developing programs are introduced for the betterment of the youth for example laptop distribution among the students. This is also one way to change the status quo.
Media promoting status quo in Pakistan:
Media has become one of the powerful factors now days in term of its impact and ability to shape the nations; it is simultaneously facilitating the overall change process and promoting the status quo in Pakistan. But at the same time media has a weak reformist role related to functioning as its internal governance are largely dominated by the commercial interests not about the public interest, Speaking during the discussion, Dr. Moeed Pirzada of Pakistan Television (PTV) said Pakistani media, in terms of its impact and ability to shape the narratives, has become one of the powerful factors today. He said the media focuses on governance that affects society and state. He also added that Pakistan’s media, from last 10 years, is playing an important role in shaping the thought of people, especially about the historical events which include the 7th March 2007, 12th May, 3rd November, and restoration of the judiciary and many more like these.
Senior journalist Fahad Hussain was of the view that strengthening of institutions in Pakistan has been uneven and currently the traditional society is in the transitional phase. He said now power is depleting from the state’s powerful institutions such as military, bureaucracy and ruling elites to people. He said shift in power has taken its roots from state to individuals as they have become powerful voters, customers and citizens, claiming their human rights through legal safeguards. nn
