I am learning to right an essay; therfore, it is requested to seniors and juniors to point out any mistake from this introductory paragraph. i'll post the whole essay if i find it good enough.

When the UN was founded, it was hoped that there would be no more war in the world. The most hopeful were those countries which had seen the horrors of the World WAR-2 that had obliterated most of Europe.It was anticipated that peace would prevail over the war or aggression. But all prospects for peace dashed to ground when the cold war ensued between the USA and USSR. The ray of hope further dimnished when the veto power was granted to all the five powers of the world.Today the UN has rendered ineffictive as many hurdles are placed before it. Inorder to spark the flame of hope for the UN, all the stumbling blocks which are hindering its effictiveness must be removed as soon as possible.

If we start with the failure of League of Nations, UN's preceding body, in World War II and why was the need for UN, then I think Intro might be able to cover Background of UN formulation that is of utmost importance as it will clarify what has been expected (Hopes) and what has been disposed on UN part (obstacles etc)

Introductory paragraph may include the need for the development of UN, consequences of world war II ,the causes of failure of league of nations, Persons/states which contributed to the foundation of UN, and primary objectives and aims of UN.
