dear fellows holistic progress means the integration of material, physical, emotional, mental and spirtual development. basically this essay was on the material developments and material theories of life of west which are devoid of soul and we had to write the holistic progress of east like Confucius, Buddhism, peace and spirtuaility of religions in east and their teachings and east a symbol of holistic progress where material development, at the cost of humanity, is not the destiny of life.

it was nothing about international relations or india and china, you could discuss the holistic success of these countries but not their relation.

Exclamation am i RIght?

Examiner is already admitting the fact that although progress has been accomplished in the west but what main component is missing that will make it "Holistic".simply you have to focus on the spiritual/religious nature of the east and its good consequences, which if added to the bombastic material progress and luxuries of the west will make it a Holistic Package..

i am amazed to see SAARC,INDIA,ASEAN bla bla by some respected members....what is the comparison between west and India,SAARC etc in terms of material progress...absolutely no match at all....

Default Look to the East for holistic Progress

Why I have the feeling that most of the people got this topic totally wrong? It was never meant to be a current affairs topic so discussing India or China was irrelevant. It was purely a philosophical topic. West symbolizes logic, rationality and materialism while East reflects wisdom, mysticism and religious knowledge. If I had attempted this question my thesis would have been "Any progress is shallow and meaningless if it is devoid of spirituality. East can offer the rest of world social values, norms and tradition that forms the essence of human progress. Any progress is holistic if it contains both the material aspect and spiritual values as its integral part". Anyways best of luck to all the aspirant. When it comes to FPSC, you never know what the examiner is thinking :P
