Hi All,
Can anyone please guide me regarding the length of answers for general science questions. Short notes and other questions. Do we have to discuss in depth each topic?
Answer should be short and to the point. Because questions in general science and ability are of 5 marks. So no need to in the depth. One page is sufficient to get full marks. What should be in a paragraph? Definition of what is being asked. Sources/origin of that thing. Impacts of that. types/categories/related to prevention/measure/result Describe your answer with these type of sub headings, each sub heading with respect to each single mark. It will be fruitful if any relative figure or diagram is drawn with the answer. Examiner will come to know that you understand and know about the question. Hence, it will help examiner to do not dig into your answer for any important point. Secondly, try to equally distribute time among all answers. If one answer is explained well and other in short, this will give overview to examiner that these are weak areas of candidate. Therefore, equally distribute time and keep balanced approach in each answer. |
Aamir Ali Abro has explained it very well.
In addition to that, you are supposed to fulfil the demand of the question while keeping in view the time not the length of your answer but try hard to provide a concise answer in order to save your time. Time management in this paper is one of the challenges. If you study the questions of the previous GSA paper, they ask questions in a question, therefore, all you need to do is to provide answers to all the areas of the asked question. Math portion might be tough and out of your mind, practice them at the end of the page but must provide the answer according to your perceptions, do not leave any question unattempted. |
This is an excerpt from 2018 examiner report about GSA:
“Candidates are advised that their answers should be precise, neat, clean, readable and no extra, unnecessary explanation was required from them. Extra care must be taken while selecting a question to answer. Candidates should elaborate their answers using graph/diagram/table where required. Answers of all parts of a question should be systematic and cohesive; not written randomly in scattered places of different pages.“ I would say 1 to 1.5 pages for a 5 marks question is more than enough if you are relevant. |
