They r talking about commercial yeast here that does not produce bacteria unless mixed with water.so when mixed,it produces bacteria.carbon dioxide is not required in bread making but bacteria is. Its a little related to common sense than hardcore science.

Default Bravo !!!

U rock, girl ! God bless u
We will be expecting more solved MCQ's of past papers, at least compulsory subjects if not the other ones :p Please tell me what is your way of getting the correct answers ? coz i found it very time consuming looking for answers in notes/books or even google. From where i can get all the past 10 years solved MCQ's for all subjects in one place, and more importantly , authentic and verified ones.

dear sister

yeast either artifical ( packed form)........is also bacteria....1st thing

2nd thing the inside process of dough making is as under

in bread making the flour used contains starch, protien and enzymes amylase. yeast added in the flour is mixed with water to form dough. Amylase digests the starch into glucose. lack of oxygen inside the dough causes the yeast to respire anarobicaly. as a result glucose is fermented to alcohol and carbondioxide. the carbondioxide produced causes the dough to rise and because of this cavities produced..... this process is written in grade 10 book........so i say its answer is carbondioxide

about common sense i dont comment.......because it is present in common people.......hahahhahaha

regards

answer is co2
ok! agreed.

It was Louis Pasteur In 1859 who first discovered how yeast works:

Yeast feeds on the starches in flour, producing carbon dioxide

The carbon dioxide expands the gluten proteins in the flour

The gluten proteins cause the dough (of which flour is a main ingredient) to expand and rise

Unhappy Impressive !

First, What are u guys by profession, Chemical Engineer or u guys gained all this detailed knowledge in the process of preparing for CSS ?
Second question, Are the rest 49 questions correct or need to be looked at ?
Thirdly, is it possible for someone to pass the EDS paper who can't make sense of anything discussed above and planning just to cram the solved MCQ's to get through ?
I still believe Xaara did a good job compiling all the objectives and more importantly, sharing it with others. God bless her for her big heart. So cut her some slack and start working on the rest.
