Village x has a population of 68000 which is decreasing at the rate of 1200 per year. Village y has a population of 42000, which is increasing at the rate of 800 per year. In how many years will the population of two villages be equal?


Step-by-step explanation:

Let the number of years be x


Village x:

Initial population = 68000

Decrease in 1 year = 1200

Decrease in x year = 1200x


Village y:

Initial population = 42000

Increase in 1 year = 800

Increase in x year = 800x


Solve x:

When both villages have the same population

68000 - 1200x = 42000 + 800x

2000x = 26,000

x = 26000 ÷*2000 = 13


Answer: The two villages will have equal number of population in 13 years.

A sum of money at simple interest amounts to Rs. 815 in 3 years and to Rs. 854 in 4 years. The sum is:

A. Rs. 650
B. Rs. 690
C. Rs. 698
D. Rs. 700

Answer: Option C

Explanation:

S.I. for 1 year = Rs. (854 - 815) = Rs. 39.

S.I. for 3 years = Rs.(39 x 3) = Rs. 117.

Principal = Rs. (815 - 117) = Rs. 698.
