Post platelets

Platelets are not a cell in the strict sense. They are cytoplasmic fragments of extraordinarily large cells called megakaryocytic

In blood each platelets have a blue color outer region and the inner area are purple in color. Platelets play a essential role in the clotting process that occur in the plasma when blood vessel injured, at this spot platelets form a temporary plug which help to stop flow

The average life of blood platelets are about 10 days if they are not involved in clotting, they contain a nucleus.

Formation of platelets is the control of hormone called Thrombopoietin.

Platelets are disc shape, with diameter about 2 – 4 MICRO METER

Each cubic mm of blood Contain about 250,000- 500,000 tiny platelets
