Vitamins are organic molecules required by the body in small amounts while Monosaccharides are the simplest form of Carbohydrates and most of our diet consists of CHO's.

The energy needed to fuel essential body processes is called Basal Metabolism..

i have consulted it books and medical students

(body ko energy muhaya krny ka major source optimum energy intke ha,basal metabolism ka mtlb hota ha todd phod kr dena,is k 2 process hain,,1 anabolism and 2 catabolism , smaller molecules are converted into larger molecule and in catabolism larger molecules are broken down into smaller molecule, and in question there is no such thing)
so pls answer is monosachhride according to my opinion

Shahid Shakoor brother,I'm myself a doctor and believe me Monossacharides are not a part of our diet, they are the simplest form of sugars which are formed only after complex Carbohydrates are broken down in the body..

Regarding the Hepatitis-A question, its caused by Fecal contamination of Water resources and water is only a mode of its transmission not the main cause.

Imad...you are right if we consider it the way you have done so...

let me explain my point: If a person has loads and loads of money, he will require money in a minute amout. for example he would not ask for loans...

So the mcq had explicitly said that we require it in minute amounts. so can't it be like that as well all know Every kind of Carbohydrate will be turned into Monossacharides therefore we won't need to take them directly... and thus forming a little portion of our daily diet..(Just like Vitamin D, as it is automatically manufactured within our body and we don't need to take them directly, unless ofcourse if somebody is a vampire and does not like to travel around in sunlight )

Dear brothers, plz look at the question what is asked ............

organic molecule contains...... carbon.... hydrogen..... oxygen.....

Now come to quantity of these organic molecules in our body

Protein 18%
carbohydrates 3%Vitamins 4%
Water 70%
DNA
RNA
last two are inorganic molecules

so what is small in the above mentioned molecules????????????????? obviously carbohydrates which are 3%
monosacchrides are the part of cabohydrates so answer is Monosacchride
Reference is Biology by Dr Hamid saeed,Dr A R Shakoori

Brother umer abbas there in not mentioned in the qustion that directly consumtion or indirectly consumption.

41. Which of the following is an organic molecule needed by the body in small amounts?

a) Protein
b) Vitamin C
c) Zinc
d) Monosaccharide
e) None of these

As far as Hepatitus is concern it is clear cut mentioned in the above referenced book that it is transmitted through fieces

brother question asked is, needed by the body and not "makes up the body". Your explanation shows that you have assumed that the question is asking about the composition of the body.

P.S Needed by the body means required as in food and daily consumption

Omar till now I haven't yet heard of a single food item which contains monossacharides,I recently gave my post graduate exam so I studied all this stuff once again and never came across any such food.We study these topics in detail in Biochemistry and there's nothing as such anywhere plus at the same time we require Vitamins in very minute amounts as they are not a source of energy. You can check it here.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vitamins

Anyways I'll re-check that in other books.
