"The Food which contains all essential food nutrients which are necessary and essential for healthy growth of the body and proper functioning of the whole parts of body" .

Elements of Balanced Diet
1: Carbohydrates
2: Lipids or Fats
3: Proteins
4: Vitamins
5: Minerals Salts
6: Water

Carbohydrates are those organic compounds which contains Carbon, Hydrogen and Oxygen. They provide 60 - 80 % of the total calories. A minimum of 100 grams of carbohydrates are necessary in diet.
[B]Food Source of Carbohydrates[/B]
Glucose, Sucrose, Starch, Cellulose, Potatoes, Grains, Wheat, Maize, Honey, Sugarcane.

[B][CENTER][SIZE="6"]Lipids or Fats[/SIZE][/CENTER][/B]

Lipids are those substances which contains oils and fats which are triglycerides of fatty acids. It is the major source of energy in balanced diet. The maximum daily requirements of fats varies from 15 - 25 gms/day, depending upon the intake of calories from other sources of diet.

Animal Sources: Butter ,Tallows
Vegetable Sources: Soybean and Mustered

Proteins are long chain organic compounds composed of several numbers of amino acid.These are very essential for growth.

Meat and Fish, Milk and Eggs, Pulses , Beans, Peas, etc

Vitamins are those organic substances which do not provide energy but these are very important for p[roper physiologic and metabolic functions of the body. The major source of vitamins are fruits and vegetables.

[B]Water Soluble Vitamins[/B] : B1 , B2 ,B6, B12, C
[B]Fat Soluble Vitamins[/B] : A, D, E, K
